We are looking professional, vigilant and attention orientated individuals who have comfort in directing the work of others and enjoys working with the public and understand the importance of aquatics in our community. Applicants must also be a proficient swimmer and able to work well as part of a team of varying ages and experience levels and be able to handle high paced and occasionally stressful situations.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position will primarily work at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center but may also be asked to work at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool. Our facilities are open to the public seven days a week from 5am-8:30 pm Monday-Friday and 9am-6pm on weekends.

Typical Responsibilities
As a head lifeguard at Dimond Park Aquatic Center, you will be responsible to for ensuring the safety and enjoyable experience for guests using the facility including the supervision of lifeguards monitoring swimmers, enforcing rules. You will also be called on to take a leading role in responding to emergencies, providing care in an emergency, and directing staff accordingly. maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.

The primary responsibility of this position is, with a high degree of vigilance, to direct lifeguards in monitoring swimmers and responding to situations where their safety may be compromised. This includes observing guests as they swim and monitoring their proficiency, maintaining a safe environment by enforcing rules, and providing care to guests who may become injured or encounter a physical ailment. During a typical rotation you may be on the pool deck for up to an hour.

Additional responsibilities will include oversight of the facility including opening and closing the facility as well as overseeing basic upkeep of the facility by maintaining a clean environment, which is free of trash and clutter, and during the winter you may be asked to participate in the removal of snow from the facilities entrance. You will also be responsible for monitoring the safe operation of the aquatic attractions and the safety of swimmers in the facility abiding safe operation rules.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

High School Diploma or GED; AND

Certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard or the equivalent; AND

Current First Aid and CPR certificates

Desired Qualification:

Certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or other specialized certification in diving, scuba diving or kayaking as appropriate is highly desirable but not required.
