PSE’s Gas Operations team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Damage Prevention Rep position!

Job Description
Responsible for preventing damages by monitoring third party excavation near PSE facilities to address potential compliance concerns with safe digging standards; filing complaints with the UTC Safety Committee; investigating damages to underground gas and electric facilities; and educating contractors about safe digging.
This position can be in one of three locations: Tacoma, South King County, or North Seattle. Please indicate which is your preferred location in the application questions.
Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

This position may be subject to random DOT drug and/or alcohol testing.
Job Responsibilities
- Field visits: Visit active construction sites of third party contractors to inspect for compliance with state law and safe excavation practices, coach contractors on safe digging practices, and enforce compliance with state dig laws.
- Conduct formal training and outreach with contractors in safe excavation processes and the requirements of the state dig law.
- Damage investigation and mitigation: Visit the site of underground damages by contractors, including on nights and weekends, to interview witnesses, photograph the damage, and provide documentation to Claims. Work with the contractor to develop a corrective action plan to prevent the reoccurrence of damages by that contractor.
- Report damages via the UTC’s Damage Information Reporting Tool.
- Participates in emergency response efforts as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 5 years relevant work experience
- Extensive experience in underground utility construction
- Knowledge of Company’s field operations and practices, industry construction standards and safety requirements
- Thorough understanding of underground utility installation standards, methods and best practices
- Thorough understanding of the Washington state dig law and the procedures for enforcement
- Ability to give presentations, both formal and informal, to groups of construction workers
- Ability to communicate diplomatically and firmly in situations where conflict may arise
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
Desired Qualifications
- Journeyman or equivalent experience in construction and/or O&M inspection
- Knowledge of gas and electric utility rates, business objectives, to include operations, customer service, claims, and corporate relations
- Ability to locate underground gas and electric facilities as part of the investigation process
- Knowledge of damage investigation and documentation procedures
- MS Office, PCAD, Tensing

The pay range for this position is $73,900.00 – $122,900.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
