  • HOW THIS POSITION SUPPORTS THE DEPARTMENT’S VISION:

    The staff is very knowledgeable, the work is rewarding and each day brings something new. This leadership position will allow you to utilize your technical and professional skills. Responsible for providing support to the Customer Service Manager in the Excise Tax Section; overseeing various distributions and ensuring the department delivers the highest level of customer service possible. The section processes motor fuel tax returns, processes tobacco and financial institutions taxes and returns, motor fuel tax consumer refunds, as well as payments for insurance. Your work not only assists Missouri taxpayers with compliance but it can directly impact the distribution of tax funds to MODOT and local city/county governments/taxpayers as well.

    DUTIES PERFORMED TO SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENT’S VISION:

    • Supervises staff, trains, coaches, and mentors employees.
    • Assist in recruitment of new staff and lead a team of customer service staff
    • Engage/Evaluation reviews; assist training staff to deliver a high standard of customer service
    • Assist in the development of procedures, form revisions, and system updates as a result of legislative changes
    • Oversee the daily operations of the Excise Tax Section
    • Oversee monthly and annual tax distributions to MODOT, local city and county governments, and taxpayers
    • Compile and submits weekly and monthly production reports
    • Manage staff; communicate job expectations to staff; review and acknowledge contribution of staff
    • Maintain customer satisfaction by providing problem solving resources, trends and ways to improve the customer experience
    • Interacts with the Attorney General’s Office, the Department’s General Counsel and Criminal Investigation Bureau.
    • Perform other related work as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong decision-making skills to provide new techniques for performance coaching and team building
    • Possess a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency (GED)
    • Experience in clerical or office related work.
    • Commitment to customer service
