US Cyber Catastrophe Senior Analyst – Aon Reinsurance Solutions

Primary Location: Chicago

Work style: Hybrid – in office 2-3 days a week.

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete catastrophe modeling for reinsurance renewal work, identifying drivers of year over year changes in results
  • Communicate and explain results to internal collaborators (analytics and broking)
  • Present findings in meetings with clients’ ceded reinsurance professionals, underwriters, etc.
  • Contribute to tool development in order improve efficiency and automate reoccurring tasks
  • Participate in Aon thought leadership around cyber cat modeling, including but not limited to:
  • Developing an Aon View of Risk around cyber catastrophe vendor models (CyberCube, Cyence, KOVRR, RMS)
  • Developing and consulting on bespoke cyber cat scenarios
  • Solving unique problems relating to cyber systemic risk
  • Collaborate with broader Cyber Analytics team (actuarial and threat intelligence) to develop and enhance overall value proposition for Cyber Analytics
  • Participate with property cat modeling team on training, development of best practices and continuing education

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Economics, Finance, Math or other similarly quantitative or analytically-orientated major, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5+ years of direct industry experience in catastrophe modeling, data cleanup/validation/analysis or experience in an analytical field; preferably analyzing complex datasets
  • Excellent communicator, especially the ability to explain complicated concepts
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning. Ability to think strategically, work independently and take initiative.
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving experience
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple assignments, work well independently and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Advanced user of Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Programming experience using SQL, R or Python
  • Prior experience analyzing cyber insurance risk
  • Prior experience with cyber catastrophe vendor models (CyberCube, Cyence, KOVRR, RMS Cyber) and/or realistic disaster scenarios

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
