Job Description

The University of Missouri seeks a Data Analyst I to assist in the daily operation of the Electron Microscopy Core (EMC) . EMC is a campus-wide resource offered by the MU Division of Research, Innovation & Impact by providing electron microscopy services and technology to ensure access to well-maintained transmission and scanning electron microscopes, including Titan Krios G4, Spectra 300 STEM, VolumeScope 2, Helios Hydra UX DualBeam, Aquilos 2 DualBeam, Quanta 600F and the Scios DualBeam SEMs.

The principal role of this position is to implement and support data acquisition and post data processing workflows for multi-scale correlative imaging, volume processing, and data mining in the Electron Microscopy Core (EMC). This position will be responsible for data processing workflows across transmission and scanning electron microscopes, including Titan Krios G4, Spectra 300 STEM, VolumeScope 2, Helios Hydra UX DualBeam, Aquilos 2 DualBeam, Quanta 600F, and the Scios DualBeam SEMs. This position will assist EM Core Scientists in processing research data and will supervise student assistants or external graduate students on fee for service projects.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

Support data acquisition and post data processing workflows – provide data analysis for clients as a service
Development of methods and capabilities for new/existing instrumentation and data workflows
Operational facility tasks (instrument/ IT infrastructure maintenance, etc)
Scientific presentations, outreach, and consultation. Designing lectures and course materials.

Salary

Salary Range: $56,864 – $104,896/year

GGS Grade: 11

Shift

Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer a PhD in computer science or compatible field with a minimum of 1 year experience related to electron microscopy. 3-5 years experience working in an electron microscopy facility is preferred.
