Data Analyst, Subscriber Engagement & Retention

The Dow Jones Marketing Analytics team is looking for a Data Analyst with strong communication and problem solving skills to identify the right metrics, visualize trends, and automate reporting on subscriber retention and engagement. They will be part of a cross-functional team focused on optimizing retention strategies and tactics for Dow Jones’ consumer brands, including The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, and Barron’s. The ideal candidate will be a process thinker with a consultant-like mindset. They will have the ability to diagnose problems, identify opportunities for internal improvement, and partner well with a diverse group of stakeholders, including Marketing, Product, and Customer Service.

You Will:

  • Work closely with diverse stakeholders to develop metric frameworks that closely tie tactics and strategy to performance
  • Identify ways to get information quicker, standing up dashboards that provide engagement and retention marketers with real-time insights.
  • Find elegant ways to distill complex collections of metrics into streamlined visuals and tools, enabling self-service analytics capabilities.
  • Report on the results of A/B tests that impact customer retention.
  • Conduct cohort analysis with respect to marketing interventions and product experiments; identify which marketing activities and product features are driving customer retention
  • Communicate with team members across the organization, identifying requirements, reporting on important success metrics, and remediating discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for creative ways we can engage and retain our members-with a focus on strengthening sticky habits. Ask smart questions, diagnose the problem, and develop long-term solutions.

You Have:

  • One year of experience in a data role with heavy direct exposure to marketing and product teams preferred. Recent graduates with relevant internship experience and strong data and communication skills will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a well-rounded academic background. A mixture of analytics, business, and liberal arts coursework is ideal.
  • Foundational SQL skills, as well as some project experience with scripting languages (such as Python or R)
  • Entrepreneurial, curious, able to easily distill complex problems.
  • Exceptional communication, ability to work cross-functionally, strong writing skills.
  • An interest in media and marketing.

Pay Range: $40,000 – $160,000
