Position Summary:

We have an excellent career opportunity for a qualified lawyer to join Marsh McLennan, a global Fortune 200 stalwart, reporting into the Global Chief Privacy Officer. Data is fundamental to our client services at Marsh McLennan. We pride ourselves on being responsible stewards of the large volumes of global data we are entrusted with, and in our thoughtful design of innovative offerings to help clients manage risks. We are looking for a forward-thinking and collaborative Data lawyer to support the design of our broader data strategy so that we can understand, secure, transfer, share, and leverage data in a manner that supports innovation while respecting our contractual and legal obligations. The role will also interface with broader Information Governance efforts across the company. This role requires a lawyer that can operate at the intersection of technology, data and the law.

We will count on you to :

  • Understand systems and applications that store and consume data, and counsel engineers and developers on how to design those systems in a manner that is consistent with privacy and other data-related laws.
  • Serve as a point of contact on data storage and retention issues so we can continue to better automate retention and deletion requirements as well as ensure efficient response to data requests.
  • Assist with research, training, and leadership updates on laws and technological developments impacting the space.
  • Liaise with internal teams on data virtualization solutions and with the eDiscovery and Data Governance teams on related issues.

What you need to have:

  • BA/BS degree
  • JD degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in a corporate environment
  • Knowledge of U.S. and global data protection and technology laws

The applicable base salary range for this role is $138,700 to $277,400.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
