We are seeking a passionate early-career or mid-career data scientist generalist with experience in working collaboratively with business teams. The ideal candidate will be able to develop, convey, and uphold key performance indicators, dashboards, and predictive models to drive fundamental business objectives. They should find joy in elucidating complex data and analytics concepts, effectively translating their meaning and implications to both technical and non-technical audiences. As an emerging technical leader, the ideal candidate will articulate and establish best practices within the organization, collaborating with engineering teams to align activities with overarching business objectives. In addition, the successful candidate should be enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and presenting to technical and business teams within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business teams to craft and refine key performance indicators and visualizations that support data-informed decisions
- Liaise with engineering and technical teams to prioritize and set standards for data engineering initiatives
- Work alongside the data engineering team to plan, implement, and organize user-facing analytics tools, such as dashboards, metrics, and predictive models
- Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of A/B testing experiments
- Design, implement, and utilize suitable analytics techniques leveraging R or Python
- Establish best practices in analytics, visualization guidelines, and standards, while mentoring junior analysts and data scientists across the organization
- Exhibit leadership in identifying and defining the necessary KPIs and metrics for tracking strategic execution
- Collaborate with business teams to demonstrate the significance of certain metrics based on data-driven insights, and educate them on why certain metrics may not be suitable
- Synthesize and highlight pivotal data-driven insights to the executive team to inform decision-making and promote improved outcomes
- Critically evaluate and provide constructive feedback on analyses produced by analysts, data scientists, and engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of industry experience in Data Science and Analytics, exhibiting a progression of complexity and scope in responsibilities
- Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL, with a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience
- Experience managing intricate, cross-functional projects and teams
- Demonstrable track record of fostering best practices and promoting excellence within an analytics team
- Proven experience in developing a vision, roadmap, datasets, and tooling in a nascent or evolving area
- Familiarity working with modern cloud-based data stacks
- Solid understanding of statistics fundamentals, exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, experimental design, and analysis
- Knowledge of predictive modeling, forecasting, and sequential testing techniques
- Experience leveraging customer analytics to drive user growth, manage retention/churn, inform attribution, and create LTV models
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex data to non-technical stakeholders
- An insatiably curious problem-solver, staying abreast of the latest techniques and proactively introducing innovative methods when appropriate
