Amazon is building a world class advertising business and defining and delivering a collection of self-service performance advertising products that drive discovery and sales of merchandise. Our products are strategically important to our Retail and Marketplace businesses, driving long-term growth. Sponsored Products (SP) helps merchants, retail vendors, and brand owners grows incremental sales of their products sold on Amazon through native advertising. SP achieves this by using a combination of machine learning, big data analytics, ultra-low latency high-volume engineering systems, and quantitative product focus. We are a highly motivated, collaborative and fun-loving group with an entrepreneurial spirit and bias for action.
Key job responsibilities
You will join a team with a broad mandate to experiment and innovate, which gives us the flexibility to apply data analysis and modeling with very large data-sets to solve to novel product problems. You will have opportunity to design and run A/B experiments to improve the experience of millions of Amazon shoppers while driving quantifiable revenue impact. More importantly, you will have the opportunity to broaden your technical skills in an environment that thrives on creativity, experimentation, and product innovation.
About the team
The Marketplace Intelligence (MI) organization makes real-time decisions on quantity, quality and placement of Sponsored Products (SP) to deliver an efficient and customized shopping experience for shoppers, and improved discoverability and sales for advertisers. We create a self-tuning marketplace that automatically and robustly responds to external changes. We build measurement, simulation, experimentation and auction run-time infrastructure that enables us to scale and move fast. We develop marketplace controls to promote a sustainable, healthy advertising marketplace and raise the bar on ‘customer-obsessed advertising’ for the E-Commerce industry.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
– 2+ years of data scientist experience
– 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
– Bachelor’s degree
– Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
– Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $111,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
