Database Engineer- Sr (P3)

Location: Remote – Central or Eastern Timezone

Oracle / SQL Azure Database Administrator

Summary

Responsible for Oracle database and SQL Azure database administration in a mission-critical, 24/7 environment. Provides technical support for solution delivery including analysis, design, evaluation, configuration, installation, documentation, testing, training, and general support across the functional areas of the solution offerings. This individual will be responsible for providing DBA services to application development teams, support multiple database environments, and manage the build-out of database infrastructure. Involves in troubleshooting the OS, RDBMS and proprietary application issues and documenting the procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for database administration of production databases.
  • Responsible for quarterly patch deployment (PSU) and periodic database upgrades with minimal downtime in database environment.
  • Responsible for database backups, design, development, testing, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor and address database alerts/issues, capacity constraints, and performance related items.
  • Implement Database automation or scripting to automate various DBA tasks.
  • Required to participate in 24×7 on-call rotation and be available to perform periodic after-hours support.
  • Maintain database baseline configuration documentation, including security controls, profiles, role, etc.
  • Setup/Support for Data-Guard. Verify backups and regularly test restore capability.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4+ years of experience performing Oracle Database and 2+ years Azure SQL Administration & Tuning or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Oracle database (12c & 19c) and Azure SQL Server.
  • Experience on Oracle 12c & 19c RMAN, Data Guard, ASM, Standby Database setup and SQL Server Management.
  • Expertise in SQL Azure, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle stand-alone administration
  • Experience in deployment of PSU & Bug fixed Patches in rolling fashion.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning using EXPLAIN PLAN, SQL TRACE, TKPROF, STATSPACK, AWR, SQL performance monitor and ADDM.
  • Knowledge & experience on Different Backup methods and backup tools is needed.
  • Experience in handling high availability systems – Oracle Data guard / Physical & Logical Standby databases and SQL Azure replication.
  • Experience in working & configuring ASM and manage issues related to ASM.
  • Experience in identifying top queries, top sessions, and SQL Performance Tuning
  • Should have knowledge & experience in Windows OS, Unix command and writing shell scripts.
  • Knowledge of partitioning, RMAN, Grid Control, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Azure cloud and SQL Server.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000 to $120,000; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
