The Datacenter Community Affairs team at Microsoft is looking for a Datacenter Content Manager who is interested in creative storytelling and developing engaging, compelling, and relevant community focused content.
This Redmond-based role will help manage both internal and external communications about Microsoft’s work in datacenter communities.
The Community Affairs team is part of Microsoft’s datacenter organization – Cloud Operations + Innovation – supporting the growth and operations of Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure by partnering with the people and organizations in datacenter communities to drive social opportunity, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities:
The scope of work includes : content development, oversite and editing of brochures, investment stories, community presentations, and construction updates; ghost writing for senior leaders; managing editorial calendars; working with partner organizations to align with Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility efforts; interpreting research data to help inform programs , investments, and strategies. The content manager will have a balance of writing, editing, communication and project management skills.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 4+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+years’ experience working in a content creation, journalism, or corporate communications role.
Background Check Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of datacenter industry is a plus.
- Working knowledge of a European language is a plus.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to edit copy.
- Experience managing agencies and creative talent.
- Understanding of research principles and tactics along with modern communication strategies.
- Team orientation: build and nurture partnerships, collaborate and influence across multiple stakeholders in- and outside of Microsoft.
- Skilled at prioritization, creating order and marshalling resources towards achieving a common goal and a drive for results with energy and positive attitude.
- Executive presence and ability to provide strategic and tactical guidance to leaders across the organization.
- Able to provide clarity in complex situations, especially when facing tight timelines.
- Undaunted in the face of constant ambiguity with ability to “see through the noise” and create clarity for key industry team stakeholders as it relates to communications and storytelling.
- Advanced usage ability of Microsoft Office product suite including, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Sharepoint.
Business Program Management IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 – $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 – $195,000 per year.
