Job Summary About the Role
Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the Districts safety and administrative policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
This position is well suited for someone with pleasant personality and works well with children. Have an understanding of children’s developmental skills and abilities.
Need to Have: Must be a minimum of 15 years of age. A minimum of 2 years of high school experience. L.E.A.D./C.I.T. program experience preferred. Maintain Mandated Reporter and First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
Essential Functions of the Position
Park District Cornerstones
- Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park Districts safety and risk management program.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
- Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
- Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, and the Early Childhood Preschool & Day Camp Supervisor, the Day Camp Floater shall complete his/her assigned duties to the best of his/her abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
- Effectively communicate orally
- Provide input when developing stimulating activities for children.
- Directly supervise scheduled activities.
- Fill in as a camp counselor with any age group, if needed.
- Follow both written and oral instructions/schedules in a timely manner.
- Assist with preparation and execution of instructional programs.
- Manage small groups of children independently during program transitions.
- Monitor and request supplies as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to duties involved.
- Perform CPR and First Aid as needed.
