Job Description:
Provides dynamic teaching & training as well as assessment that require intermediate knowledge of U.S. Navy Combat Systems Capabilities and Limitations to the element level.
Reviews and analyzes U.S. Navy Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations, technical publications, U.S. Navy maintenance cards and conceptualizes the execution of system administration, troubleshooting and repair; optimizing the application of ship’s Combat Systems capabilities and limitations.
Conducts dynamic assessment of the sailors’ abilities to comply with approved maintenance and operational procedures and thereafter provides formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical and tactical proficiency. Prepares; reviews; and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching. Documents the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas / watch station and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report. Teaches moderately complex Navy Combat Systems training programs and related materials in support of ZTF training objectives. Periodically reviews course content and objectives. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities. Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and program effectiveness. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Updates course documentation on a regular basis to ensure timeliness and relevance. Participates in special projects as required.
Qualifications:
Seven (7) years Aegis Computer Network Technician (ACNT) experience and be an acknowledged / recognized expert in the functional area of Combat Weapons System Information Technology and associated systems, to include demonstrated Linux/Red hat/Cisco Network Knowledge and Administrator level experience. Relevant experience in a job that required researching, reading, and applying technical specification documents or tactical publications with responsibility for interpreting and translating content from the specifications to instruction. Additional experience manipulating training systems for effective and correct presentation of learning objectives. Of the seven years, one (1) years of experience as an Instructor in a formal Navy individual training environment (NEC 805A or 9502) to include presentation skills, public speaking skills, curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems including one (1) year relevant experience using training systems/simulations for effective and correct presentation of learning objectives.
ACNT/AWS, CSOOW and CSC on a networked Aegis or ZUMWALT Platform.
CSTT technical or tactical qualification and experience.
CISCO, Red Hat, CompTIA and any relevant IT certifications.
Additional qualification possess NEC 1335/V42A (ACNT BL 6) or NEC 1318/V36A (ACNT BL 7.2A) or NEC 1339/V44A (ACNT BL 7.2B) or NEC 1345/V50 (ACNT BL 8), NEC 1386/V69A (ACNT BL 9) or NEC 1325/V39A (CEC AN/USG-2 CETPS Technician), and NEC 9502/805A (Instructor). Experience Master/Afloat Training Specialist in support of SCSTC/TACTRAGRU/ATG is a significant plus. Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Travel may be required up to 10% of time.
Prior instructor duty with NEC 805A/9502 highly desired.
Education:
BS Degree in a technical discipline (CS, EE, ITM, MIS, etc.) or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.
The likely salary range for this position is $68,000 – $102,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
