We are seeking a Project Management Department Manager (PMDM) for the Power Delivery (PD) Market with a proven track record of leading, training, and collaborating successfully across multi-office teams. The position may be located in one of the following offices: Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Jackson, MI; Minneapolis, MN; or Muscatine, IA. We are looking for someone who will function as a line manager for a team of Senior Project Managers, Project Controls Specialist and Project Administrators, cascading and implementing Project Delivery strategies, processes, and procedures.
The PMDM provides leadership and oversight for project delivery and project financial performance to the Department’s Project Management team members. The PMDM is a direct report to the Market Leader (ML) with an indirect reporting relationship to the Business Unit’s Project Delivery Lead (PDL). The PMDM is a key role in the company’s mission of “project delivery” as a differentiating feature of client service above and beyond technical competency. The PMDM will work closely with the following roles:

- Other Project Delivery teams within Stanley organization
The PMDM shall work with the Market Leader to maintain competent project delivery resources within the Market, managing projects with an integrated approach, and working within the company’s project delivery framework. Works closely with the PDL and Group/Department Managers to prioritize plans and actions of the corporate project delivery program (including project management, controls, and technical execution/quality) to ensure that company systems and processes are meeting the needs of the PMDM’s Department and Market. The PMDM shall have responsibility for the financial stability of the project portfolio within their Department by ensuring that all project financial and risk management processes are followed and effectively communicated within the Market and Business Unit.The PDPM shall plan the growth and development of members within the Department to cross-train, mentor and develop individuals to expand the capabilities and skills to increase capacity.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages department of direct reports performing project management work across the Energy Market, including, but not limited to, personnel administration, project management support, and business development support; recommends department plans, programs and resources, including staff budgets and capital expenditures, hiring, onboarding, salaries, promotion, transfer, demotion and termination of staff members; reports department status, results and performance including quality and schedule.
- Works with the ML, BDM, PDL, and Operations Lead/Director to assign project managers to ongoing and new project proposal work and task order/project assignments, to meet our client objectives and deliverables, as required.
- Mentors and trains project delivery members, as appropriate, in company Project Management, Project Delivery and company Safety processes and procedures and with client-specific requirements.
- Monitors performance of assigned members to ensure quality, schedule, and budget obligations are met to the satisfaction of our contractual obligations.
- Monitors and assigns workload of direct reports through use of the company Utilization and Planning software and reports to ensure direct reports’ Utilization targets are met.
- Forward planning of the department resources to assign “right person to right role” to grow the department.
- Accountable for providing final decision making on issues and risks escalated by the department team, Or providing dispute resolution within the organization to maintain work.
- Performs as a Project Sponsor and/or Project Portfolio Manager, working with business unit’s PDL and project managers, to review project managers’ performance metrics and their assigned project’s financial performance.
- Performs time charge guidance, review and approvals for direct reports.
- Performs Performance Management Process goal setting guidance, review and approvals for direct reports.
- Performs mid-year and year-end performance reviews for direct reports.
- Provides routine and special enterprise communications and meetings with staff, as a department and for individual members.
- Participates in overseeing, reviewing and approving project scoping, costing and proposal preparation, interviews, and fee negotiations to the extent required.
- Reviews project delivery approach and execution of the defined project scope, work procedures/sequences, and developed schedules, budgets, staffing, and progress billing points.
- Ensures project managers follow company process and procedures regarding project safety, project opening orders, project outlines, project initiation activities, project schedules, project executions, and project closings.
- Responsibilities may also include project management for his or her own projects.

- Financial – Financial risk management actions align with the risk profile of the Market project portfolio
- Client – Client satisfaction with project delivery (scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety)
- People – Project manager satisfaction with PM professional development
- Growth – Expansion of the department through hiring and developing new members and promoting members within the department or organization
- Financial – Cash Management within planned parameters for Accounts Receivable (AR) aging and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
- Demonstrated capabilities and success in managing large projects, multi-office projects, and/or multiple projects.
- Knowledge of contracts, proposals and financial aspects related to fees, budgets and projections.
- Experience with continuous improvement and/or operational excellence techniques.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Salary Range:Base Compensation: $140,000 – $170,000
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location.
