Department Of Medicine Digital Communications Production Specialist

Job Summary:
The digital communications production specialist produces visual and written content across multiple channels to execute the Department of Medicine’s communications strategy. This cross-functional position is part of a growing and supportive internal team that supports overall department branding; recruitment of learners, faculty and researchers; internal news and communications; alumni and philanthropy communications; and other initiatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, co-producing the department’s biweekly internal e-newsletter; managing the department’s social media; updating external- and internal-facing web content; helping facilitate photography/videography scheduling and shoots; creating digital graphics and other design products; and recommending design improvements for digital communications projects.

The successful candidate will have a blend of visual, verbal and written communications skills; an ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into a unified message; and an aptitude for hands-on execution of multiple simultaneous projects. The candidate must also be a self-starter who can work confidently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities: Develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of unit communication goals.

  • 5% Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives
  • 5% Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects
  • 10% Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • 30% Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • 30% Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans
  • 20% Designs and/or facilitates visual communications, including photography/videography, digital graphics, and design improvements for existing and new communications projects

Qualifications:
Required:
– Minimum six months of professional communications experience, including developing digital and social media content
– Strong visual, written and verbal communications skills
– Proficiency with web content management systems, e-mail marketing software, graphics software and/or social media platforms/management tools
– Meticulous attention to detail and organization

Preferred:
– Work experience in a health care and/or academic setting
– Demonstrated interest in medicine, education, or research content
– Basic graphic design skills and facility with graphics software
– Facility with project management software, search engine optimization (SEO) strategies and tools, Google Analytics

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
