What you will be doing
The Department Specialist is responsible for meeting or exceeding key performance indicators, ensuring efficient buying practices and strong partnership with vendor(s). The Department Specialist is part of a team of buyers, who works with key stakeholders who work in distribution, manufacturing, stores, merchandising and vendors. The Specialist supports the Senior Planner and Manager in achievement of all team, distribution center, and company profit objectives. As a key member of the national replenishment team, the Department Specialist commits to delivering a high standard of professional integrity.
The position will be based in Boise, Idaho.
Main responsibilities
- Build strong and trusting relationships with internal business partners and assigned vendor partners. Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve objectives.
- Adopt a holistic perspective that considers data, analytics, customer insights, and different parts of the business when making plans and determining action plans.
- Deliver expected business results while putting the customer first.
- Perform buying activities to obtain fill rate, inventory productivity and product loss goals on assigned buying desk. Leverage data driven scorecards to monitor performance.
- Assist in collaborative planning with assigned vendor partners to attain the best net product price possible.
- Display keen focus on supply chain efficiency to implement cost savings initiatives.
- Review and resolve pre-books/allocations/scan-based issues received from stores or division personnel.
- Visit stores, as needed, to monitor programs, obtain store feedback and to assess overall implementation effectiveness as needed.
- Address Accounts Payable variances for assigned items to ensure inventory values are correct and billing to stores are accurate.
- Resolve store distribution issues by acting as a liaison with the warehousing and transportation department and store associates.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Operations to maintain the proper product flow through the facility, in a timely manner.
The salary range is $22.83 to $29.70 hourly. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility). We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years of Inventory Management or Vendor Management experience in the retail industry.
- Retail operations/Marketing experience preferred or strong understanding of store operations and merchandising methodologies and practices.
