Summary
This position is budgeted to start at $16.00 per hour.
This is a PARS (Public Agency Retirement System) budgeted position and is limited to 995 hours per fiscal year. This is not a PERS eligible position.
The Community Services Department is looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about serving the community in a variety of customer service capacities. The Department Specialist will support the Community Services Department’s special events, front counter. Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Coordinator, this position will process paperwork for special events, conduct follow-up requests for information, complete data entry assignments, assist with customer service registration duties, and provide other administrative support for the Community Services Department. Depending on the operational need, the hours will fluctuate from 15-20 hours/week. The available scheduled shift will be 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and occasional Saturdays as needed.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Community Services special events permitting team by accepting applications, answering questions about the process, following up on outstanding items, and reviewing documentation required for submission.
- Answer general questions for the Community Services Department.
- Register individuals for classes and process park/facility permits.
- Create the weekly park/facility reservations report.
- Maintain physical records according to the records retention schedule.
- Ensure the designated office space is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
- Maintain operational understanding of registration and attendance tracking software.
- Typical office duties consisting of answering phones, filing, and computer work.
- All other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:
- 18 years of age at the time of employment
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable
