Deputy Data Privacy Management Advisor

The Deputy Data Privacy Management Advisor supports the development and maintenance of North America region’s privacy. Program and ensure compliance by the Global Business Units (GBUs) and other entities present with applicable privacy and privacy-related consumer protection laws in the US and Canad. This position also interfaces with the Privacy line of the ENGIE Group on matters of gevernance, training, and implementation of the Global privacy framework.

This position will sit in Houston, TX, and will report to the Chief Legal Officer. This position is open to a hybrid schedule of both in-office and work-from-home.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate all aspects of North America region’s Privacy program across the company, including all operating business entities, products, and services
  • Encourage and facilitate meetings with the Chief Legal Officers (CLOs) of the North America region’s GBUs, relating to the for the Privacy Program for the North America region
  • Attend cross-functional activities/meetings organized by the Chief Deputy Privacy Officer (CDPO)
  • Ensure robust and effective preventive, detective and remedial privacy controls throughout the North America region’s operations
  • Assist with defining and conducting the annual strategic action plan for Privacy program needs and objectives
  • Maintain clear, effective, and legally compliant privacy policies and procedures
  • Assist with implementing and executing effective training, communications and awareness programs to properly sensitize employees and business partners regarding privacy legal requirements and responsibilities
  • Facilitate implementing and executing effective privacy assessments, auditing, monitoring, tracking and reporting procedures to ensure the success of the program, as measured by regular assessments, and metric-based analysis
  • Aid in conducting privacy investigations, including data security breaches and other privacy matters, preparing comprehensive investigation summary reports, and ensure proper corrective action is taken
  • Support counseling and advising the North America region and the operating business entities therein regarding new and existing initiatives, products and services while supporting the business on implementing and executing such guidance
  • Ensure compliant marketing campaigns and information sharing and disclosure practices, including digital platforms, emerging technologies, and Internet-based communications vehicles
  • Provide proper remediation regarding identified privacy internal controls deficiencies
  • Support the business with ensuring proper vendor and third-party oversight, including by providing contracting support for the privacy aspects of the business negotiations
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders (e.g., federal, state and local regulatory entities, IT, IT Security, Marketing, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Legal, and Internal Audit).
  • Coordinate the compilation of clear, accurate and timely reports for senior management of the North America region, as needed
  • Become a primary point of contact for privacy matters in the North America region

What you’ll bring:

  • A minimum of a four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of seven (7) years experience in data privacy
  • Extensive data privacy experience
  • Good understanding of privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Ability to independently and self-sufficiently lead the function with minimal supervision and direction
  • Strong verbal, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to influence at all levels of the organization, including executive management, Internal audit, workforce members , regulators, local, state and federal officials, customers, partners and vendors
  • Strong ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data, and clearly and concisely articulate the relevant points

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting

Working Environment:

  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements and handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use company issued computer and travel to conduct site visits
  • Capable of using proper lifting procedures or equipment usage needed when involved in lifting up to 50 lbs

  • Salary Range: $97,965-$163,590 USD annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
