Job Description:

This role will support the efforts and execution of the Product Development strategy for the North American Financial Lines (FL) as led by the Regional Head of Product Development for FL NA in collaboration with the Regional Head of FL NA and as supported by the Global FL Head and Global FL PD. The position will support the efforts to strategically drive the innovation and execution of refreshed or new insurance product offerings as well as customized wording for specific accounts. The role sits within the FL Line of Business (LOB) will work collaboratively with FL Underwriting, NA Claims, NA Legal, and AGCS Global Product teams to create and define a market leading presence for product innovation in the Financial Lines sector.

Job Responsibilities:

Product Development & Knowledge Transfer

  • Develop, implement, and modify FL standard product and account specific wordings for management liability, professional liability, and fidelity products for FI, Commerical, and PI business.
  • Ensure wording consistency with FL regional and global business and wording strategies and authority.

Underwriting Strategy

  • Develop, define North American Product Strategy in accordance with the underwriting strategy as defined by the Regional FL Head as supported by the Global FL Head.

Coordination and collaboration

  • Represent FL externally to customers, brokers, and the industry, and internally to groups (Actuarial, Finance, Legal, Ops) that support FL business
  • Drive involvement of functional areas including FL Underwriting, Multinational, and Market Management
  • Actively support FL specific projects and task forces

Market Specifics

  • Provide support for special products, product launches, industy meetings
  • Identify litigation trends, coverage trends, and market developments and drive appropriate coverage responses
  • Monitor new (legal) developments, coordinate and steer regional / country issues (e.g. liability and insurance law development)

UW Authorities/Process Management

  • Make suggestions for UW authorities for special products to Head of Financial Lines and sub-Lobs heads.

UW Approach and Compliance

  • Enhance and refine the underwriting, creation, and updating of products in line with regulatory compliance and business strategies

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience as a Financial Lines Underwriter, Insurance Lawyer, F.L product/Portfolio Manager, and/ or a technical writer of F.L insurance products
  • Demonstrable track record of creation and development of financial lines products
  • Successful track record of leadership of direct teams or complex matrix environments
  • Experience of working regionally with strong ability for cross border adaption
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of FL products, coverages, underwriting practices, pricing processes and sales distribution channels
  • Preferable post-bachelors legal degree
  • Underg J.D.; LL.M.; or undergraduate degree in Law, English, Liberal Arts, or other transferrable subject and 15+ years of experience working in Financial Lines
  • The annualized base pay range for this role is $109,000-$212,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AGCS total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
