Summary
Develop designs, prepare estimates, and/or manage major scope projects to ensure quality construction of electric distribution system additions, expansions, modifications in accordance with all Company policies, governmental requirements, and accepted standards to meet the needs of existing customers. This position assists with job scheduling, material procurement and construction to meet customers’ requirements, and provides technical support, information, and guidance to other work groups. Key Roles & Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
- Prepare designs and estimates for projects under minimal supervision to provide electric facilities to meet customer needs.
- Designs must ensure reliable, economical, safe, and timely expansion of the Oncor electric distribution facilities.
- Follow projects through the construction process to ensure timely completion and accurate posting of DIS data and financial records.
- Communicate with customers and other work groups to ensure internal and external expectations are met.
- Incorporate safety as an aspect in the design and operation of facilities to ensure personnel and public safety.
- Effectively manage assigned projects while maintaining work product reliability and volume.
- Actively participate in personal developmental planning and training to expand knowledge and opportunities.
- Must be able and available to assist in storm restoration efforts.
Designer Associate
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
- A 2-year Associate degree in technical related curriculum or Bachelor degree is preferred or
- 3-7 years of direct or related design/construction/project management experience is preferred without a degree
Designer
- 1-5 years of direct or related design/construction/project management experience and a 2-year Associate degree in technical related curriculum or Bachelor degree or
- 5-9 years of direct or related design/construction/project management experience without a degree.
Designer Senior
- 3-7 years of direct or related design/construction/project management experience and a 2-year Associates degree in technical related curriculum or Bachelors degree or
- 7-11 years of direct or related design/construction/project management experience without a degree.
Designer Specialist
- 5+ years of direct or related design/construction/project management experience and an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree or
- 11-15 years of direct or related design/construction/project management experience without a degree.
