The Team:
Mattel, Inc. is seeking a Designer (Softlines Graphic Focus) to join the Global Franchise Creative and Consumer Products Design team, working primarily on t-shirt graphics and artwork.
This Designer will support CP team POD and .com strategy by creating appropriate, exclusive capsules for our POD partners and retailers. This designer will also support merchandising direction and mockups as needed for CP development.

Job Description
The Opportunity:
The Designer will, with direction from Lead Designers, and to support segmentation strategy, develop assets and themes for all Mattel brands across the assigned retailers. The Designer will focus on Softlines, and deeply focus on graphic design across all POD and quick to market CP goods.
Designer will create brand-right and trend-right graphics from approved artwork/themes to both target and inspire customer and increased brand experience. Designer will work closely with teammates to ensure assets are useable and applicable to all consumer product categories globally.
Must have a very strong graphic design background applicable to apparel and be able to visualize and communicate how assets are applied on product. A good understanding of apparel, POD limitations/possibilities and keeping up with what’s new in techniques and technology for print on demand or fast-turn product is needed. Able to express ideas and trends through visual and verbal communication.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Responsibilities include:
• Designing, creatively, quickly and at a high level, within strategic themes and categories
• Work with CP creative team to understand our brands, deeply
• Gathering current and emerging fashion and consumer trends, as well as manufacturing and technology trends to curate into asset development and assortments that align to our brand values and aesthetics
• Actively participate in team brainstorm sessions (as well as cross-functional sessions) for new asset ideas, product development and innovation.
• Working closely with commercial teams to understand segmentation strategies and creative needs for all identified retailers.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
- Graphic Design experience within the apparel industry is really important!
- Minimum of 2 years professional creative experience in Fashion/Licensing/Graphic Design for Apparel or Consumer Products industry 2 years
- Excellent in Adobe Suite
- Power Point proficient
- Excellent with time management, prioritization and organizational skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams on multiple projects
- Strong communication skills to articulate all design ideas
- Licensing experience is preferred but not required.
- Requires strong knowledge of colors, materials, apparel manufacturing, finishes and print techniques
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment
- Efficient, effective designer
- Knowledge of screen and digital printing processes and limitations preferred (especially as it applies to preparing graphic files for print production or placements)

The annual base salary range for this position is between $56,000 and $88,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
