Founded in 1978, EverGreene is consistently ranked as one of ENR’s Top Specialty Contractors. The company of artists, conservators, craftspeople and designers provides world-class artistry and superior craftsmanship, with a focus on client services. EverGreene operates as both an art studio and a specialty contractor combining art, science and technology to work on some of the country’s most significant historic and contemporary buildings.
Function & Scope: The Designer (Interior Artistry) will work collaboratively with the design team in the design of decorative art for both new and historic spaces. Roles of the designer include development of a comprehensive artistry program for a space, looking to historic precedent, existing or proposed architecture, and wishes of the client team. Design scope may include development of decorative elements throughout a space such as painted panels, borders, stencils, three dimensional ornament and furnishings, and artwork including murals and sculpture.
The process often begins with the development of concept sketches for new construction or for historic spaces which have suffered inappropriate post-historic renovation. A significant proportion of this work is liturgical (specifically in the Roman Catholic tradition although not exclusively), the designer should be familiar with ecclesiastical iconographic tradition. The preliminary vision articulated in the concept phase frequently establishes the scope of work for subsequent implementation phases so it is important the designer understands how the designs will be produced. The Interior Artistry Designer should be able to recreate historic designs using reports and research.
