What We Are Looking For:
The Designer for Sweaters + Cut and Sew Knits is responsible for designing compelling women’s sweaters, cut and sew knit tops in line with the ANINE BING brand. Must have a strong understanding of yarns, stitches, fully fashioned construction and jersey fabrications. Must engage in all aspects of design such as communicates daily with cross functional team members as it relates to the design and execution of their style and meet with yarn mills and knit jersey mills every season for sourcing.
The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial self-starter with 5-6 years of experience with fully fashioned knitwear, cut and sew knit tops with strong technical knitwear and cut and sew tops background. This candidate will enjoy a startup mentality and environment that changes day to day. Should possess a passion for sketching new seasonal collection, sourcing, knit downs, tech packs, fitting from Development through to Production. To research and identify key seasonal sweater and knit tops for the collection, send out new and seasonal knit down development based on concept and direction.
The Designer for Sweater and Cut and Sew Knits will work to create women’s sweaters and cut and sew knit tops that reflects the brand vision, create tech packs in our PLM system and maintain an awareness of fashion trends and direction as it relates to sweaters and cut and sew knit tops. Must be Proficient in Adobe Creative – Illustrator and Photoshop.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing compelling women’s sweaters and cut and sew knit tops in line with the brand each season
- Engage in all aspects of design such as sketching new seasonal collection, sourcing, knit downs, tech packs, fitting from Development through to Production
- Research and identify key seasonal seater and knit tops for the collection.
- Send out new and seasonal knit down development based on concept and direction.
- Communicates daily with cross functional team members as it relates to the design and execution of their style.
- Meet with yarn mills and knit jersey mills every season for sourcing
- Performs additional duties and assignments, as requested
- The candidate will report to the design manager/ senior designer and work closely with the design director.
Qualifications:
- Our ideal candidate should have 5-6 years of experience with fully fashioned knitwear and cut and sew knit tops
- Designer level with opportunity to grow within the role
- Strong technical knitwear and cut and sew tops background.
- Strong computer sketching skills, with a superior understanding of proportion.
- Must have a strong understanding of yarns, stitches, fully fashioned construction and jersey fabrications.
- Must be proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop
- Previous experience in PLM systems for tech packs
- Must be organized and able to juggle multiple deadlines and seasons
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a team player, have ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines and take initiative.
- Works well in a collaborative team environment and can take direction and feedback with utmost professionalism.
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- This role is required to come into the office 4-days per week therefore this candidate must be in Los Angeles.
Perks & Benefits
- The compensation rage for this position is $70,000-$80,000 per year. Candidate offer will be bases on relevant experience.
