Desktop Support Engineer

The Thuma team is looking for an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to join our San Francisco Bay Area-based team. Reporting to the Sr. HR Operations Manager, this person will be responsible for providing desktop and remote technical support to end users, managing user accounts and access, configuring, installing, and supporting end user hardware and software, and ensuring compliance with company IT security policies and procedures. The Desktop Support Engineer also plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall efficiency and security of the organization’s IT infrastructure.

Thuma’s Headquarters is based in the historic Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco. This role is based in San Francisco and requires travel to the office Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Provides desktop and remote technical support to users on end user hardware
    • Responds and follows-up on internal support requests, provides timely and professional support to users
    • Set up and troubleshoot WiFi in current and new office spaces
    • Manage user accounts and access, including onboarding, off boarding, and access management, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
    • Configures, installs, and supports desktop computers, laptop computers, printers, monitors, and other general office equipment
    • Configures IT devices for secure operation, including installation of security software, software updates, and other configurations as required
    • Diagnoses hardware and software failures, communicates the remediation plans to users, and provide status updates
    • Supports continuous improvement in the process and quality of IT operations
    • Maintain a security-first mentality and comply with company IT security policies and procedures
    • Supports with new software implementations across the organization
    • Potentially travels to various retail locations to install required POS solutions and ensure network connectivity

This Might Describe You:

    • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues with a wide array of hardware and software
    • Broad knowledge of networking, storage, and server technologies
    • Familiar with Zoom, Okta, and Jamf administration
    • Capable of learning and understanding new technologies quickly
    • Experience working with Mac and PC hardware, operating systems, mobile phones, tablets, peripherals and accessories, and conferencing technologies, both software and hardware
    • Ability to read and gauge technical support required to determine the right amount of needed interaction in a given scenario
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • 3+ years of experience in an IT support position working in a corporate environment
    • 3+ years working in a role that requires effective interpersonal communication skills
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred

$75,000 – $95,000 a year

Thuma provides an estimate of the compensation for roles that may be hired as required by state regulations.
