Development Engineer

Q CELLS Enable is the EPC branch of Qcells for the Commercial and Industrial market. Our mission is to be a world class designer and installer of large-scale PV and ESS systems throughout the US. We are based in NYC. Our position as a leading module manufacturer means we can offer end to end solutions for project developers. We are expanding our offerings and have several open positions currently.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Development Engineer will provide project support to the Preconstruction team to complete all engineering required tasks to drive projects through EPC contract signing and hand off to Project Engineering Team. This position is based out of Manhattan, New York and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance of this location. This position is required to travel at least 10% of the time.

This position reports to the Head of Preconstruction. This position is located in Manhattan, New York, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to this location.

Compensation: $80,000-115,000 base (based on experience) + bonus

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Complete preliminary design and construction budgeting for commercial PV Systems (Rooftop, Ground Mount, Carport) and Battery Energy Storage Systems
    • Oversee due diligence effort for new portfolios of work
    • Lead new market research efforts for business expansion into new territories
    • Create bid level sets of drawings and SOW documents for subcontractors
    • Perform site walks to document existing conditions
    • Prepare technical exhibits for LNTP and EPC contracts
    • Coordinate material forecasting with procurement manager on long lead time items
    • Serve as technical liaison with customer for document requests and projects

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Engineering degree or commensurate experience
    • Minimum 4 years of experience working with AutoCAD
    • Strong understanding of NEC; wiring sizing, voltage drop, OCP sizing, Bonding and Grounding
    • Working level understanding of MV interconnections for ground mounted solar farms
    • Knowledge of PV installation best practices and equipment
    • Organized, detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
    • Ability to communicate among construction, technical and non-technical personnel, both internally and outside the company
    • Experience in a sales engineering, development, or technical sales support role
    • Some understanding of current electrical, civil, and structural codes, and working knowledge of common construction materials and methods.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2 years of experience in commercial PV design and three phase electrical systems
    • EIT Certification
    • NABCEP PVIP certification
    • Experience working with PVSyst, Helioscope, PV Case
    • Ability to maintain and create an AutoCAD block and template library
