The Boeing Company is currently seeking Mid-Level/Experienced Software Engineers to join the Satellite Mission Software Products organization located in Leesburg, VA or Mesa, AZ.

We are looking for innovators and leaders in the development of our nation’s next generation of satellite and space flight ground systems. We seek skilled and motivated software developers who want to take their skills to the next level through hands-on development on a diverse multi-disciplined team of engineers, using the latest tools and methodologies for multiple long-term satellite ground system projects, in both commercial and government realms. As a team member, you will work as an integral part of our Continuous Integration Platform team delivering exciting new features for our Satellite Operations and Ground System products.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level and Experienced Software Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, automate and optimize the development and platform management lifecycle
  • Develop and sustain Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines for automated deployment of the highly available, mission critical cloud or enterprise platform product software for integration and test and operations
  • Create scripts and templates to build development systems.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires being able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess a B achelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • Experience with a public cloud provider, ideally Amazon Web Services
  • 3 or more years of experience working with Unix/Linux distributions using command line terminals and GUI based desktop environments
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes/tools
  • 3 or more years of experience in software development using Java and/or JavaScript

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Amazon Web Services certification highly desired
  • Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc)
  • Experience developing containerized microservices deployed into a cloud based orchestration framework such as AWS, Docker Swarm, or OpenShift
  • Experience using NPM for Javascript build and dependency management

Typical Education / Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary Pay Ranges:

Mid-Level (Level 3): $104,500 – $151,800

Experienced (Level 4): $122,400 – $177,100

To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
