Interim Diagnostician
SUMMARY:
The Interim Diagnostician provides assistance to Copperas Cove ISD Educational Diagnosticians in the performance of their duties while engaging in an academic program and in-district training aimed at helping them to obtain certification as an Educational Diagnostician. The Interim Diagnostician shall receive information and instruction from the Director of Special Education and/or their designee(s) on how to perform required tasks. In addition, when needed, the Interim Diagnostician may assist in other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: Other duties may be assigned. Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required. The Interim Diagnostician supports Copperas Cove ISD Educational Diagnosticians and staff by performing the following tasks:
- Upload FIEs, physician statements, multidisciplinary team reports, and other data as assigned to the special education student management software system.
- Organize and file protocols and other evaluation documents created by the Diagnosticians.
- Electronically re-format (revised) evaluation guidelines, teacher report forms, and other documents as assigned.
- Perform systematic observations for student evaluations.
- Perform updates on Family/Developmental histories for student reevaluations.
- Perform student record reviews.
- Attend Diagnostician, special education departmental, and campus-based meetings.
- Assist Diagnosticians in the compilation of the multidisciplinary team report by adding in tables and graphs and other data, as prescribed by the Diagnostician, into the report.
- Inventory and organize Diagnostician tools. (protocols, test kits, materials, etc.)
- Participate in weekly assessment meetings.
- Participate in practices associated with assessment, only under the guidance and direct Supervision of a certified Diagnostician.
- Act as a guest teacher and/or paraprofessional, as needed, to support the Copperas Cove ISD programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
– Possess a bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline
– Have a plan to become a Diagnostician and be willing to enroll in a program that leads to a Diagnostician certification in Texas.
-Teaching experience preferred.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Note: An Interim Diagnostician or a Diagnostician Apprentice who is enrolled as a graduate student during a practicum course must spend at least 14 hours each week engaged in the practices associated with assessment, exclusive of clerical, administrative, paraprofessional, and substitute teacher activities. These students have direct contact on a regular basis. They also receive at least one hour of individual direct, face-to-face supervision with the supervising Diagnostician per week and at least one hour of group meetings with their university’s instructor of record. They do not have an assigned caseload of students and are not permitted to engage in evaluation services without appropriate, qualified supervision.

– Ability to make decisions and problem solve within a team of service providers.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
– Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
– Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
– Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups including administrators, staff, local school districts, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
– Ability to work mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
– Ability to extrapolate needed statistical data from given information.
REASONING ABILITY:
– Ability to frame and solve a practical problem logically and rationally.
– Ability to apply common sense understanding, to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
– Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

SALARY:
$52,500 for 197 Calendar Days
