The Tracy CA Distribution Center has an great opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic.
The salary for this position is $35.02/hr. We also have an “in-training” position starting at $31.52/hr. Starting salary may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform preventative maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers and trailer refrigeration units.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment problems.
- Answer drivers’ telephone request for assistance with equipment failure while out on the road.
- Maintain and repair all equipment (tractors, trailers, trailer refrigeration units, converter gears) to include engines, starting and charging, cooling, electrical, body, wheels, brakes and suspension.
- Follow all company procedures and ensure a safe work environment.
- Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Diesel Mechanic or combination of formal/technical education and directly related experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver’s license.
- Current CDL license (preferred)
- Must supply own tools up to 1 ¼” size with the proper tool box, including air tools
- Ability to reach, lift and work objects weighing up to 100 lbs. Ability to push and pull heavy equipment.
- Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and high places.
- Ability to stand, walk and work in close quarters, prone and awkward positions for lengthy periods occasionally.
- Mental alertness and good vision are necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
- Exposure to hazards exist with respect to equipment, work areas, tools welding equipment, presses and other power equipment.
- Must be able to work full time.
