ENGIE North America is searching for a talented Digital and IT Director to operate and manage ENGIE’s instrumentation and data collection network across the United States.
The Digital Operations Team has two primary functions:
- Managing timeseries data collection from 1500 sites, tens of thousands of devices and dozens of unique device types and the delivery of data to analytic and reporting platforms for use by ENGIE analysts, field service works, and customers
- Support ENGIE construction activities through the design, procurement and delivery of metering and data collection systems for renewable energy and energy efficiency sites while working closely with ENGIE Project Managers, Construction Managers, and commissioning resources
What you’ll do:
- Lead the Digital Operations team to operate and manage ENGIE’s instrumentation and data collection network of 1500 renewable energy generation, and energy efficiency sites across the U.S. This includes electric, natural gas, steam, and water metering, on site data acquisition equipment, cellular routers, private cellular network backhaul, data loaders, multiple data analytics and reporting platforms, and computerized maintenance management systems
- Lead the Digital Operations team to design, procure, and deliver instrumentation and data collection systems for renewable energy and energy efficiency sites under construction while working closely with ENGIE Project Managers, Construction Managers, and commissioning resources
- Enable the expansion of Monitoring and Field Services to new sites and new customers by working closely with ENGIE’s Field Services team to understand and integrate renewable energy sites not constructed by ENGIE
- Support digital connectivity of customer sited Electric Vehicle charging equipment to various Charge Management System
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and evaluate for commercial viability
- Resource and lead the Digital Operations software development team
- Select and standardize hardware for data collection and technology for backhaul
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of experience in IT Operations
- Energy Industry Experience
- Timeseries data management experience
- Serial data communication and common control system protocol experience (Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP)

- FOCUSED ON DATA -knows that data objectifies their decisions and enables them to make compelling cases to stakeholders for prioritization
- GREAT AT COMMUNICATING – up, down and sideways. Must be able to share with others what is being prioritized and why
- WILLING TO HELP – It’s a Director level role. But with a small team managing many sites means there are times when it will be necessary to assist the team by extracting and analyzing data, moving data around, and diving deep into problem solving
- COMMERCIAL – despite being focused on data in a digital context, they must be able to cognitively link what users do, and how the company makes money. Being able to articulate the business model and relate decisions back to it is key
- DETAIL AND STRATEGY – able to deal with the detail of a working development backlog while also being able to set direction and articulate a strategic road map

- Ability to Travel up to 25% of the time by personal vehicle, rental car, air and train as needed
- Possess a valid State issued drivers license

- Salary Range: $120,700.00 – $307,190.00 USD annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
