Digital Art Director

Are your design skills so versatile that you could execute a digital ad campaign for a medical client in the morning, skin a website for a manufacturing client in the afternoon and dream up a killer concept for a tech client in your sleep? mdg is a marketing agency that delivers results for association and event clients in diverse categories like education, healthcare, technology, energy, cupcakes, cheese curls and craft beer (we’ll explain those last three later). With a 44-year track record of success, mdg was named a “Best Place to Work” by Meetings & Conventions magazine. We’re now seeking a Digital Art Director who can ideate creative concepts, bring them to life, and translate them into multiple mediums.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate clients’ business objectives into creative concepts that serve as the platform on which campaigns are built
  • Interpret written and/or verbal direction, exercise creativity and employ design best practices to develop integrated campaigns
  • Confidently present work to agency clients, delivering solid and strategic rationale for design decisions
  • Proactively suggest new techniques, approaches or departmental procedures aimed improving efficiencies
  • Art direct, mentor and help develop the skills of junior team members
  • Learn new technologies and grow skills to remain on the forefront of digital design

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of broad digital design experience (including designing for online media, motion graphics and video)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual skills for advertising and marketing campaigns
  • High-level graphic production skills
  • Ability to shift priorities, meet (sometimes short) deadlines, and consistently deliver quality work
  • Previous experience in an agency setting preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts, Media Arts, Interaction Design is strongly preferred

Bonus Points:

  • Knowledge of web application design and build a plus

Base Salary Range:

$95,000 – $105,000 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include work experience and skill level)
