Job Summary Job Summary
Under shared supervision of the Chair and IT Manager of Department of Plant Sciences, assist in the overall development of strategy and vision for the Department’s online presence. Create and expand departmental communications through the web, social media, visual media, and specialized mechanisms. Manage maintain, and develop web content, encompassing teaching, research and research groups and outreach activity of the department, website navigation, and deliver web development through programming and design.
Assist with each of the eight Research and Information Centers, in ensuring correct web branding, placement in department webpages and support on programming and maintenance of the RICs web presence.
Assist in the development of multimedia content with specialists, and develop and repurpose written, visual, and other content types for the department website, leading on the programming and delivery.
Ensure the department’s web presence is accurate, current, compelling, easily navigable, user-friendly, and consistent with department priorities for a variety of audiences, including alumni, donors, students and their families, faculty, our stakeholders and staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree and work-related experience in computer science, web development or similar.
• Experience working as a digital producer, digital content manager, for multimedia web publications.
• Experience developing online strategies that integrate web and social media content. Experience analyzing web metrics and implementing navigation strategies based on results.
• Experience handling multiple, competing projects and building consensus while managing leadership expectations.
• Experience with CMS
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Twitter Bootstrap, Database Management Systems, web programming language
• Interpersonal, communication and diplomacy skills to interact with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and external stakeholders, and creative professionals including web designers, photographers, videographers, and multimedia artists.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator , Premier Pro or other visual design and wire-framing tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
• Experience writing, editing, and/or repurposing scientific news for a variety of audiences in digital, online, and print formats.
• Proficiency using content management systems.
• C#, web forms, MVC, SQL Server SQL.
• Proficiency and knowledge of SEO concepts and best practices.
• Knowledge of campus web standards and editorial/content standards.
• Project management skills appropriate for multimedia or content production for the web or in publications.
