Job Overview
The Digital Designer will work with the College of Nursing’s marketing and communications team in creating graphic design that supports the college’s brand positioning. This position will play a critical role in bringing our college to life through visual representation by coordinating, developing and producing internal- and external-facing print and digital media pieces that help the college creatively engage with its many audiences. This person will leverage the university and college’s brand assets to lay out and produce deliverables such as reports, advertisements, magazines, social media graphics, flyers, digital signage and more, based on college needs.
Essential Functions
- Act as a steward of the UC brand, utilizing knowledge of current graphic design software to produce ADA-compliant, high-impact designs.
- Keeping in mind the College of Nursing’s strategic direction and marketing objectives, convey complex concepts through social media graphics, flyers, digital signs and more.
- Design and produce the College of Nursing’s annual magazine and annual report.
- Collaborate with web communications manager to produce social media videos and motion graphics.
- Liaison with printers, suppliers, etc., for projects and promotional items; write all specifications for printing, supplies, bids, etc.
- Collaborate with college faculty and staff, as needed, to develop and recommend creative, cost-effective solutions that align with brand standards.
- Utilize experience and knowledge of current graphic design software to produce visual material, create graphic materials, recommend alternative approaches to design and production for cost-effective printed materials.
- Work with marketing and recruitment teams to update, maintain and print college’s recruitment collateral and other materials, as needed.
- Maintain design standards for all material produced; stay abreast of technological advances in the field; maintain records and files.
- Participate in creative ideation, project kickoffs/briefs, and other team exercises.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of the education requirement.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- One (1) year of experience related to digital graphic design or visual communications.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience creating original content using industry-standard software for a variety of different mediums, including print and digital.
- Experience in video, motion graphics and/or multimedia production.
- Experience in Canva.
- Experience coordinating and assisting photo shoots or video shoots.
- Solid understanding of digital and design technology and willingness to learn new platforms as needed.
- Organized, deadline-oriented designer who can work quickly with an excellent focus on detail.
- Motivated and accountable self-starter who can manage personal workload and tackle challenges with a customer-centric attitude.
- Good writing and verbal communication skills.

- Competitive salary range of $40,000 – $45,000 dependent on the candidate’s experience.
