Position Overview:
The Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) is seeking a part-time Human Resources (HR) Intern to assist with a variety of in-office duties, assignments or projects related to the field of HR.
The ideal candidate is a professional, resourceful, and highly motivated individual who exhibits personal accountability, possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, has strong writing and analytical ability, is organized and forward-thinking. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to handle confidential information with discretion, tact, and patience.
This is a limited-term part-time paid internship requiring in-office presence. The successful candidate will be able to work a maximum of 29 hours per week. The LACDA hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Essential Job Duties
- Performs analytical work and special assignments in support of HR
- Carries out a variety of administrative support tasks
- Assists in drafting and finalizing standard operating procedures
- Conducts research on related area of assignment
- Gathers and compiles data and prepares simple statistical and narrative reports
- Assists in the preparation of materials for trainings or presentations
- Attends required trainings and events in support of HR
- Acts as a liaison for other units within HR
- Assists with personnel record scanning and filing
- Prepares and sends correspondence
- Helps HR staff with organizing interview panels
- Schedules interviews and assessment tests
- Conducts reference checks
- Posts and removes job advertisements from job boards and social media platforms
- Coordinates and schedules new hire orientations
- Assists in the planning of company events
- Provides efficient and effective customer service
- Professionally represents HR on all related matters
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited institution of higher education
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Satisfy current I-9 eligibility requirements to work in the United States
Knowledge of:
- Theories, principles, and practices of Human Resources
- Research and report preparation methods

- Analyzing situations, identifying problems, and developing and recommending solutions

Salary compensation is dependent on qualifications (experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities). Initial salary placement is generally made between the start and mid-point of the posted range. New hires are not eligible to start at the maximum of the posted range.
