About the Position:
The Digital Imaging Production Coordinator supports the fulfillment of digital imaging requests and projects, contributing to the creation and provision of digital access to archives and library collections. They are involved in all steps of the production workflow, including materials preparation and handling, data entry, quality control, and preparation of files for online access and repository preservation. The Digital Imaging Production Coordinator will participate actively in the routine operations of digital imaging projects, including materials management, file management, troubleshooting, exception handling, and coordination of tasks. They help to oversee a team of lab assistants, delegating tasks, reviewing work, and managing their work schedules. They also work closely with a range of team members and stakeholders, including but not limited to: service manager, lab manager, lead photographer, project manager, public services staff, patrons, conservators, archivists and curators, external vendors, and donors. The Digital Imaging Production Coordinator will also track production progress on a weekly basis, communicate project status, and create and maintain overall project documentation as required.
Develop and execute digital imaging production assignments requiring fully developed skills and understanding of area of specialization. Partner with internal and external clients regarding fulfillment of digital imaging requests and management of projects.
Core Duties*:
• Partner with clients on strategic and creative approaches to projects involving abstract or technical content to meet objectives and within time and cost constraints: articulating the production process and expectations, communicating issues, providing status updates, and suggesting appropriate methods for improvement. Coordinate with library stakeholders to develop and implement library projects and workflows to support requests for services.
• Manage all aspects of capturing, recording, and transmitting of all digital media productions, video and/or images.
• Make recommendations for purchases and repairs of digital media equipment. Diagnose and resolve digital media system problems. Create cost estimates for different equipment options. Provide stewardship of university resources.
• May produce high-quality post production and editing to ensure a quality product and an accurate depiction of content. May review and edit masters to meet the needs of the client(s) and/or producer and properly store, label, and archive of masters and edited masters.
• May produce high-quality digital surrogates of fragile and/or rare materials or other analog sources for access, display, and preservation purposes using a variety of equipment.
• May set up, operate and troubleshoot on a variety of equipment including but not limited to; video cameras, video projection, video conferencing, still photography, analog and digital audio recording. May train or provide guidance to other staff.
May act as primary liaison with vendors.
* – Other duties may also be assigned, including:
• Manage the flow of library materials through digitization processes and preservation workflows in collection projects. Delegate, oversee, coordinate, and perform technical aspects of project, with guidance and input from supervisor and other technical leads
• Supervise part time digitization lab staff.
• Prepare required metadata and project documentation
• Review, evaluate, approve, and monitor schedules, product quality and adherence to technical specifications.
• Work with management to gather information, develop project objectives, budgets, schedules and implementation plans.
• Perform project management oversight of small projects or more than one large task within a larger project.
Develop novel approaches to safely and effectively capture information in library materials in a high quality digital format.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software.
• Strong knowledge in production techniques including videography, compression and file delivery and other production formats.
• Broad knowledge of all aspects of professional quality productions, including field and studio camera, lighting, and editing.
• Understanding of online content distribution.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of digital imaging and computer equipment.
• Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setup or workarounds if necessary.
• Ability to manage a variety of simultaneous projects within tight deadlines, excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment. May require experience planning, coordinating, and executing archival digitization projects.
Other Relevant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Include:
• Demonstrated ability to adapt workflows and troubleshoot errors as necessary.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with use of command-line tools
• Experience working with digitization software and workflow systems including: Goobi, CaptureOne CH, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, VXElements, VXModel, VXInspect.
• Understanding of digital imaging quality standards and their implementation in production environments, including target capture, SFR analysis, and system calibration
• Understanding of library and archival materials formats and related preservation and conservation issues.
Physical Requirements:
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks
Frequently stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach/work above shoulders.
Occasionally sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat.
Visual acuity including color vision.
Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license.

Working Conditions:
• Occasionally work on weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible shifts.

The expected pay range for this position is $72,000 to $104,000 per annum/hour.
