Director, Accounting

Job Description

Job Summary
Directs operational activities for regional accounting functions. Plans, develops and establishes the policies and objectives for each department in accordance with regional and global strategies. Collaborates with internal and external customers and other DENSO locations in resolving problems/issues.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls, fiscal controls, preparing financial reports and safeguarding the organization’s assets. Maintains accounting and financial records and reports including general ledger, financial statements, regulatory and management reports.
  • Ensures compliance to financial and regulatory laws in order to protect the company from fines, penalties and sanctions.
  • Supports achievement of profit objectives through prudent control of expenses, labor and capital investment.
  • Creates and updates transfer pricing report to ensure contemporaneous documentation always exists in order to be defensible in the event of an audit.
  • Develops, communicates and implements yearly goals and objectives with performance expectations for each department and direct report. Leads and guides assessing individual training needs and planning goal attainment.
  • Collaborates with senior management to develop and secure long-term vision for various departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
  • 15 or more years of relevant experience required.
  • 10-12 years of progressively more responsible financial experience and demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strategic mindset considering situations and scenarios from a broad perspective.
  • Advanced knowledge of Accounting procedures and terms.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; good presentation skills.
  • Competent level of experience using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated skills in leading teams and developing people.
  • Excellent negotiation and customer service skills.

Salary $148,000-$185,000.
