Key job responsibilities
As the Director for Elemental, you will be responsible for leading a group of top talent in the design, development and operation of an industry leading suite of products and services. You’ll also own the business strategy, P&L and roadmap for the services and will be responsible for their end-to-end engineering and growth. Specific responsibilities will include:
• Owning the engineering delivery, product roadmap, and P&L for the Elemental service.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to drive the execution of product vision through to delivery, owning teams that design, build, and operate some of the highest-scale services on the internet. Growing and leading a software development team responsible for rethinking the assumptions behind how traditional internet services are built and delivered and how to optimize services for the cloud.
• You will draw from your deep and broad technical and management expertise to mentor senior engineers and managers, complete hands-on technical work and provide leadership on complex technical issues, design tradeoffs, and feature and schedule prioritization.
• Work directly with customers in both engineering and C-suite level discussions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– A minimum of 15 years of experience driving long term engineering and product decisions.
– Proven ability to hire & develop a diverse, high performing, inclusive organization.
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (related field) or equivalent work experience.
– 10+ years’ experience managing people with 5+ years of managing multiple managers/teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Proven ability to hire & develop a diverse, high performing, inclusive organization.
– A leadership position in a team delivering solutions at scale.
– Masters in Computer Science or Engineering.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $264,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
