JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Director, Business & Legal Affairs at Fox Entertainment, primarily handling business & legal affairs matters in connection with network television marketing, promotions, and publicity, as well as scripted FOX television network and studio business & legal affairs. The Director, Business & Legal will report to the Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze, negotiate, and draft a variety of “above the line” talent deals, as well as below-the-line production agreements
- Draft, review, and negotiate all types of marketing and promotion agreements, vendor service agreements, event agreements, brand integration agreements, agreements involving digital ad campaigns, and consultant agreements
- Advise the marketing and publicity departments in connection with intellectual property rights and rights of publicity issues; talent/crew contractual restrictions/obligations; guild requirements; promotional usage rights and restrictions; third-party rights clearances and music issues
- Provide production legal advice for live-action and animated scripted programming
- Create and maintain departmental resources and actively participate in the establishment of departmental policies for scripted programming
- Analyze contracts in response to business questions, and provide contractual and research information to business executives and more senior attorneys to assist with business decisions
- Handle other general corporate legal matters that arise from time-to-time
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Juris Doctor
- 4+ years of attorney experience
- Working knowledge of entertainment industry practices, talent agreements, legal clearance issues, intellectual property, and guild requirements
- Self-motivated and able to handle more than one project at a time and accurately assess the priority of assignments
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, including lawyers in other departments, and executives and staff from other departments such as marketing, publicity, creative, business development, risk management, finance, and sales
- Ability to function independently, and work as a team player
- Strong drafting and issue-spotting skills, and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
- Active member of California bar; will consider those eligible for Registered In-House Counsel status
- Experience at a television network, studio, production company, or otherwise in the entertainment industry

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $136,000.00-182,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
