Role:
As Director, Cloud Platform & DevSecOps Engineering, you will leverage your experience to develop the cloud foundation for Crown Castle’s technology evolution. You will apply engineering leadership skills and technical knowledge to lead our cloud journey and deliver the completion of our cloud migration. Keys to success will be building strong partnerships with other enterprise leaders, business stakeholders and external customers to enhance overall outcomes. Additionally, you will define an effective strategy and roadmap for the DevSecOps organization and capabilities.
This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to help shape the direction of Crown Castle’s technology strategy including building a solid digital and data foundation for future growth.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Data & Digital leadership and key business stakeholders on a regular basis earning a reputation as a thought-leader in building technology-driven solutions
- Lead through the ongoing cloud journey and be responsible for delivering to completion
- Build the strategy and roadmap for various cloud and infrastructure engineering services including platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
- Build and scale the multiple engineering teams an organization, processes and technology from scratch
- Establish, maintain, and evolve DeSecOps as an organizational capability in partnership with Product Management, Engineering, Security, and other partners
- Actively participate, collaborate, and influence overall IT architecture, and provide direction on how to build highly scalable applications in the cloud
- Lead multiple operational teams in the areas of CI/CI, DevOps, and IAM operations
- Run hybrid environments with systems on-premise and in public clouds
- Establish CI/CD processes and evolve DevSecOps mindset
- Lead the planning, design, and development of cloud products, including major new capabilities and small enhancements
- Work closely with the Development, Security, Infrastructure, Operations, and Testing teams to ensure that Continuous Security, Infrastructure as a Code, Continuous Testing and Monitoring are integral to the software development value stream
- Lead a team of engineering professionals and set strategic direction for the team, including leadership development, capacity planning and individual engineering development to deliver comprehensive solutions and value propositions
- Collaborate with cross functional teams on products/initiatives that are complex, requiring negotiating skills to build consensus with stakeholders, maintain partnerships and deliver successful results
- Present complex concepts and results to multiple stakeholders to influence decisions
- Create effective partnerships with third party partners to manage capacity and support needs

- Define a platform strategy from the ground up
- Experience transforming teams from legacy practices to automation and software-defined models

Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience
- MS in a related technical field and/or MBA preferred
- AWS Cloud certifications preferred
Experience/Minimum Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software development, security, and DevOps, with a strong background in securing CI/CD pipelines and implementing SAST/DAST tools.
- 5+ years cloud-based infrastructure and security
- In-depth leadership experience with AWS including architecture, services, and cost management
- Prior expertise transforming teams from legacy practices to automation and software-defined models
- Track record delivering complex solutions with automation, CI/CD, and self-healing capabilities
- Strategic thought leadership for public/private hybrid cloud operations
- Architecting and building scalable cloud infrastructure and processes.
- Cloud Operations with a proven track record of hiring, coaching and retaining team members
- APM and Observability tools (AIOps is a plus) and Dashboard Creation
- Extensive experience managing Cloud services and with enterprise benchmarks/SLA
- Highly-collaborative with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organization
- Understands complex, multi-project environments and quickly diagnoses potential risks and issues
- Budgeting, forecasting, and capacity planning experience
Working Conditions: This is a remote role with the expectation of on-site collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter. Travel up to 25% may be required.
For New York City, Colorado, California and Washington residents – The hiring range offered for this position is $166,160 – $220,000 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 35% of annual salary and restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 23 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
