Purpose Statement
The Director of Community Education plans, implements, supervises and manages all aspects of Community Education programs that help to support the district’s mission. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to Early Childhood, Before and After-School Program, Summer and other school-year camps, Facilities Rentals, GPS Enrichment, Community Partnerships, Youth Athletics, and other duties and programs as assigned. Essential Functions
- Establishes programs and coordinates community activities relating to the community to include youth enrichment, before and after-school childcare, Community Partnerships and Youth Athletic activities.
- Publicizes, promotes and interprets community education programs.
- Forms networks of communication and establishes rapport with building principals and community agencies.
- Evaluates ongoing Community Education, Facility Rental, and Community Partnership programs.
- Coordinates summer and evening community education and programs with building principals.
- Administers the program during hours of operation for Community Education.
- Supervises Community Education supervisors, teachers, specialists and support personnel.
- Assists in the selection of personnel for Community Education.
- Prepares and maintains a budget of expenses and revenue for various programs.
- Prepares and submits proposals for additional funding.
- Evaluates certificated personnel on an annual basis.
- Supervises the Facility Rentals Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years successful school administration or business management experience.
- Minimum of 3 years working as a teacher, administrator or in a supervisory capacity in a public school setting.
- Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:
- Experience in working with Community Education programs.
- Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects and/or programs simultaneously.
- Ability to successfully create and manage budgets.
- Proven, effective, professional relationships with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community.
- Understanding of State of Arizona Department of Health Services child care licensing regulations.
- Effective professional relationships with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community.
- Effective organizational ability in all aspects of educational programs.
- Skill in effective decision making.
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and student body.
- Forward-looking in educational views and evidence of a willingness to initiate and/or accept change.
- Demonstrated competence in planning and developing educational facilities.
Experience
Job related experience within specialized field is required.
Education
Degree from an accredited 4 year educational institution.
