Director – Data Analytics

What You’ll Do

We’re looking for a Director of Data and Analytics to join our Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) team. In this role, you’ll join our journey to make Principal a more data and analytics-driven organization. You will have the opportunity to lead Data Science, AI and analysis teams in EDA and serve as a sponsor for the data science, AI, and data analysis community across Principal.

Specifically, you will:

  • Create a strategy for sophisticated analytics in EDA, including areas of focus, practices, tools, and engagement model with BU data science and analytics teams
  • Quickly understand business unit strategies, goals, priorities, and partnership opportunities and cultivate a portfolio of data science/AI initiatives to deliver innovative solutions with quantified business value
  • Foster a community of data scientists, AI engineers, and analysts to increase alignment, learning, collaboration, and growth opportunities
  • Attract, develop, inspire, and retain high quality advanced analytics talent

Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative subject area plus 7+ years of related experience in data science, AI, and advanced analysis
  • You have knowledge of a variety of quantitative techniques in statistical modeling, machine learning, and AI, and experience leading teams delivering sophisticated analytics models/solutions for business impact
  • You collaborate effectively with peers and business partners and thoughtfully communicate complex analytical information to technical and business audiences

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • A Masters or equivalent in a quantitative subject area
  • 5+ years of experience leading advanced analytics teams
  • Experience developing strategy for advanced analytics and establishing new programs from the ground-up
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Ability to show your creativity in adapting to changes in direction and be able to move around barriers

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$153000 – $207000 / year
