Director, Global Accounts II – Farmington Hills MI

Ove rview:

The APLL account manager will manage an assigned sales territory and/or specific accounts with the goal of maintaining and growing APLL Automotive Logistics Services through face-to-face sales interaction. The sales emphasis will be on implementing logistics programs that utilize the current intermodal unit-train program, International Supply Chain services and Auto Direct Capabilities designed for the OEM’s and Tier-1 suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specific customer insight and logistics expertise to accountable APLL operating/pricing personnel to drive successful service implementation and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain sales territory marketing plan:
    • A strategy maintaining or increasing business with each account in the sales territory; account specific budgets and management of customer-specific logistics procedures and sales leads.
    • Plan and conduct sales calls and develop a sales-call plan and specific objectives.
    • Materials Conduct face-to-face calls with customers at all levels in their organization and follow up on commitments and issues that arise during sales calls.
  • Communicate on Customer and competitive developments that relate to assigned sales territory:
    • Communicate to other APLL functions and APL business unites account specific need and opportunities.
    • Communicate with external service providers.
    • Gather business intelligence from customers and other sources to identify actions by customers or competitors, which could mean a threat or opportunity for APLL, and ensure prompt forwarding of this information to all pertinent individuals in the APLL organization.
  • Maintain up-to-date account information includes:
    • Prompt updates in CRM of names, address, key contacts, and phone and fax numbers for all accounts in the assigned sales territory.
  • Lead/Participate in the post sales implementation team, includes:
    • Coordinating the integration of the team member’s.
    • Preparation of the account specific Implementation Action Plan with the new customer.

Key Result Areas:

  • Develop relationships with “C” level logistics and finance contacts in client organizations to allow APLL to sell the features and benefits of the overall Automotive service offering.
  • Obtain historical shipping data from potential customer so the information can be reviewed by APLL pricing and operations personnel to create competitive service and pricing programs.
  • Validate customer’s external/internal communication, and operating requirements to create applicable logistics processes and procedures.
  • Manage profitable growth within the existing business base while generating new business from new customers

Qualifications
Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor degree required
  • Graduate training preferred but not required

Experiences

  • 10+ years of industry sales experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering service and pricing presentations for the mid to large customer base.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Freight Management and logistics services.

Skill Sets

  • Ability to interact with and maintain call control at all levels in the customers’ organization.
  • Personal computer skills – Knowledgeable in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics
  • Demonstrated independence and self discipline.

The typical salary range for this position is: $139,755 – $170,000.

The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, education and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.
