Chief Human Resources Capital Officer
SUMMARY
Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Human Resources (Employment). Working under the direction of the Chief Human Capital Officer and serving as a member of the Human Resources Leadership Team, the Director of Human Resources (Employment) is responsible for managing the administration of TUSD human resources employment functions, programs, and initiatives; making recommendations for organizational planning and development; creating and implementing policy initiatives; and ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and directives. The Director of Human Resources (Employment) manages a team of human resources professionals responsible for hiring, onboarding, determining compensation and classification, maintaining employee records, providing substitute teacher services, and supporting general operations.
The ideal candidate is a creative, experienced, and adaptable leader who embraces the human aspects of human resources with fluency in digital and human relations. The successful candidate is an active and skillful manager with strong communication skills to effectively share information and provide a positive influence across all levels of the organization. By understanding TUSD’s needs and developing effective working relationships with internal and external customers, the Director of Human Resources (Employment) can assist the Chief Human Capital Officer, district leadership, employees, and potential employees in sustaining and retaining a highly qualified and dedicated workforce serving TUSD’s students and families.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management or Human Resources, or a related field
AND three (3) years of experience in Human Resources or related field;
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management or Human Resources, or a related field
AND six (6) years of experience in Human Resources or related field;
Three (3) years supervisory experience
Knowledge of federal and state legislative requirements related to Human Resources
Knowledge and ability to use word processing, standard and specialized software, database, and spreadsheet programs
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
Valid Arizona Driver’s License
Any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
SHRM-SCP or SPHR Certification
Bilingual
Experience working in a K-12 education setting
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check.
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services – Transportation by Employees.

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month
