Director, Information Technology

This role reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO)and will require a weekly in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee IT operations for Away headquarters, remote employees, and retail stores
  • Lead a team of IT Operations and Service Management staff, continuously managing their career growth and development
  • Analyze business requirements and company strategy for IT needs and systems
  • Create the IT Strategy and roadmap, effectively defining and delivering on new SOPs, process improvements, and projects
  • Implement and manage IT security and data protection programs in conjunction with the InfoSec team
  • Collaborate with Technology peers to deliver IT dependencies and improvements
  • Establish frictionless processes to onboard and offboard resources from IT services
  • Manage, support, and upgrade existing IT equipment and software
  • Prepare and manage the IT departmental budget
  • Build / maintain relationships with software and hardware vendors and service providers
  • Directly participate in IT improvements and support as required (i.e., be hands-on)
  • Own HQ and retail store network setup, security, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Own productivity software setup and maintenance including GSuite, Slack, etc.
  • Own security software setup and maintenance including Okta, Carbon Black, etc.
  • Own of Mac and Windows PCs support and maintenance using JAMF and Intune
  • Own Away HQ IT capabilities including conference room scheduling tools, video conferencing equipment, and printer setup and maintenance
  • Own support and maintenance of Azure and Google Cloud infrastructures
  • Own setup and support of enterprise service management tools including Atlassian Jira
  • Communicate and document troubleshooting techniques and best practices
  • Lead development and delivery of training programs for new IT capabilities as necessary
  • Document and enforce new and current IT policies and procedures

Who you are:

  • Minimum 10 years of Information Technology experience, with at least 3 years in a people-managing leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of IT security, best practices and procedures
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Experience working with high-level executives
  • Experience with providing user-focused customer support
  • Possess strong technical knowledge in relevant IT applications and technologies
  • Superior attention to detail, organizational skills, multitasking abilities, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong sense of urgency, initiative and problem solving skills
  • Ability to navigate tough situations, juggling various priorities and managing constraints
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven track record of data-driven decision-making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with a “no task is too small” attitude
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Passionate about transforming travel (but that’s a given!)

Compensation Package:

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total rewards program that also includes benefits, bonus, equity and various social and professional investment opportunities at Away. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Away to fall healthily within the range based on these factors.

  • Salary Range: $210,000.00 – $220,000.00 annually
  • This role is eligible to participate in Away’s Annual Company Performance Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined on an annual basis at the discretion of the company
  • Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company
