The innovative leader selected for this position will support the District in strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring the results of all academic programs and initiatives.
With over 200 teachers and administrators, the Director of Academic Services is an essential member of the Cedar Springs leadership team as we work to maximize the potential of each student and staff member.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree or higher in education or related field with certification in educational leadership/administration
- Successful classroom teaching and instructional leadership experience
- Successful administrative experience as a principal or assistant principal preferred
- Skilled collaborator, communicator, and relationship-builder
- Knowledge of PK-12 curriculum, standards, instruction, interventions, and assessment
- Broad understanding of public school laws and policies as they relate to the delivery of instructional services
- Evidence of strong conceptual, analytical, organizational, and management skills
Responsibilities and Outcomes:
Curriculum Management
- Provide systemic leadership and support as necessary for the selection, development, curation, and implementation of curricular resources across all facets of our PK-12 academic programming in alignment with state and national standards, learning science, and evidence-based practices
- Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of all educational programs
- Ensure alignment and cohesion across grade levels and subjects
- Work with principals and the Director of Summer and After-School Programming to develop out-of-school intervention offerings
Continuous Improvement
• Establish direction for district continuous improvement that is integrated with all district MTSS work
• .Foster a spirit of collaboration with PLC leaders, MTSS leaders, and building administrators to maximize the impact of our instructional programs on student growth
• Facilitate collaboration with Student Services, Technology, and other departments, modeling collaborative planning and shared decision-making
• Maintain current knowledge of evolving research, relevant trends, and best practices
• Oversee the Academic Services team, empowering each member to impact improvement
Professional Development
• Design, facilitate, and deliver ongoing professional development for educators
• Provide coaching and expert modeling to educators around evidence-based practices in PK-12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment to enhance the quality of teaching and learning
Assessment and Data Analysis
• Coordinate, monitor, and report the results of district-wide local and state assessments
• Provide direct support to teachers and leaders in the collection, analysis, and use of data
• Implement tools to measure the effectiveness of the curriculum, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions for improvement
Compliance
• Develop, administer, and monitor curriculum budget
• Follow all Board policies, state laws, and regulations
• Coordinate and complete required MDE reports, including the Annual Educational Report (AER)
• Work with principals to ensure compliance with state and federal grant requirements
Resource Management
• Work with the Director of Business and Finance to coordinate grants
• Maintain and strategically allocate the Academic Services budget
• Manage curriculum resources, including textbooks, digital tools, and materials, to ensure they support the curriculum effectively
Perform other duties assigned by superintendent

Salary: $123,900 – $134,900
Work Schedule: 52 weeks

Cedar Springs Public Schools is a Preschool through 12th-grade public school consisting of over 3,000 students and nearly 400 employees. We are located within the city limits of Cedar Springs, Michigan in Kent County. Cedar Springs Public Schools is one of 20 member public school districts within the Kent Intermediate School District (KISD). We are unique in that our schools are all located within a single campus setting with the exception of the Middle School which is located 1 mile south of the main campus. The setting is secure, picturesque, and allows easy access for families participating in activities for more than one child.
