We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Director of Business Development and Fundraising who is passionate about cultivating the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance, and review in order to ensure successful development of each student.
This position is a full-time position for the Raleigh County Campus and will report directly to the Department Manager. The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students.
Job Summary
Serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet and reporting directly to the Vice President of External Affairs, the Director of Business Development and Fundraising is responsible for contributing to New River Community and Technical College’s revenue growth through the development and execution of new business and fundraising strategies. This position is responsible for the coordination and continued development of internal and external stakeholders, the educational foundation fundraising efforts, increasing the offering(s) and enrollment of external workforce training and retraining programs, and growing the non-credit and continuing education programs to meet the economic and workforce development needs of the college’s service region. The successful candidate will plan and implement effective sales and fundraising strategies, secure resources through stewardship of existing relationships and cultivation of new business development opportunities. Establishing priorities for contributing to the overall revenue growth of the college by balancing the needs of community partners and Increasing workforce offerings to meet the economic and workforce development needs in the region are essential to success.

Roles and Responsibilities
Strategy and Management
• Actively work with the College President and Vice President for External Affairs to develop and execute a multi-year comprehensive development plan with effective sales and fundraising strategies to provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for New River Community and Technical College.
• Represents the College President and/or Vice President for External Affairs at public, social, and business gatherings and serve on various College and external committees and associations.
• Conduct analyses and valuation of workforce programs and fundraising initiatives for alignment with college’s enrollment strategy, ensuring viability and profitability.
• Develops and maintains business plans, activities, and budgets.
• Prepares clear, concise, and accurate department administrative and financial reporting.
• Provide leadership in the development and expansion of the New River Community and Technical College Foundation.
Fundraising
• Identifies and secures sources of funding for the College. Leads and participates in the fund raising and development efforts for the service region within the strategic plan of the College.
• Holds primary responsibility for building the fundraising pipeline.
• Assist with the foundation’s scholarship award process.
• Assists with the development and recommendation of policy and procedure. Ensure compliance with college’s policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations aligned with fundraising.
Sales and Business Development
• Drive new business sales process in collaboration with Dean of Workforce, Technical and Community Education.
• Establish and maintain working relationships of academic activities with the regional Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Authorities, Boards of Education, and relative groups.
• Develop and maintain business, industry, and community partnerships in the nine-county service region to foster and support workforce development and economic growth.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Public Relations, or related field is required.
Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience
In addition to the knowledge/education the following related work experience is typically required for this position. An equivalent combination of and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
Experience in Administration is required 3-5+years.
Experience in Fundraising is required 3+ years.
Experience in Sales/Marketing/Promotion is required 3+ years.
Preference may be given to those with community college experience.
License or Certification
A valid Driver’s License is required.
