Category Leadership
The Demand Accelerator (DX) team represents a transformation of Shopper Insights, Shopper Marketing, Category Leadership and Space resources supporting Sales and Marketing plans across the PepsiCo portfolio. This approach allows us to build best-in-class capabilities, develop deep functional expertise, and offer focused programs to drive growth with our customers.
The PBNA Director of Category Leadership for Small Format in the North is accountable for driving our insights agenda with our North C&G and Drug chains as well as independent C&G operators. In this role, you will focus on both delivering growth and key AOP priorities and shape a long term growth agenda with key insight driven platforms, such as accelerating immediate consumption. You will develop category management strategies and tactics to accelerate both category growth and maximize the growth potential from the PepsiCo Beverage portfolio and collaborate with your food counterparts at FLNA and QFNA to drive an integrated approach for PepsiCo. Excellent customer management skills, comfort navigating ambiguity to define a clear direction on strategic projects and being skilled at gaining alignment on strategic initiatives with customers are all critical to success in this position.
The Director will have a high people development focus, lead their team to shape and lead the category insights agenda in Small Format and successfully lead the talent management priorities with their team. The Director will foster and maintain key relationships between sales and other key functional partners such as shopper insights, shopper marketing, space engineering and their peers. You will have strong category management functional skills, and will leverage to coach their teams to higher levels of performance and contribution, as well as coach customers on best practice techniques and overall project management on key initiatives such as POG/assortment commercialization. The Director will lead the JBP process from an insights accountability standpoint and partner closely with their sales leads and customer to identify problems to solve, identify a suite of potential solutions and collaborate to refine and develop the growth priorities to be executed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the Small Format PBNA Category Management Team
- Develop and share insights to customer teams on current macro & category trends relevant to future growth and development
- Educate customer teams on selling with insights to grow the category
- Partner with Senior Directors of Sales for the North to support regional growth strategies
Key Competencies:
- Leadership – must develop and support direct reports – total of 5 direct reports
- Customer Development – proven ability to interface at all levels of management
- Insights and Category Management functional expertise
- Ability to navigate disparate data sources to identify common trends to drive category solutions
- Cross functional collaboration – ability to set the insights agenda & inspire /collaborate cross functionally to gain alignment on solutions
Compensation and Benefits:
• The expected compensation range for this position is between $113,300 – $226,600
• Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
• Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 25% of annual salary paid out Annually.
• And an additional target payout of 10% of annual salary is paid out over 3 years following the end of the performance period.
• Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance.
• Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA degree preferred.
- 8-10 years’ experience across CPG and Category Management
- Prior team leadership and people management experience
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to multi-task
- Strong project management skills
- Creativity and strategy skills
- Persuasive leadership and influencing skills
- Business relationship management
- Strong organization and communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong analytical, data analysis, problem solving, and storytelling experience
- Thorough understanding of IRI/Nielsen syndicated data and other Grocery industry data sources (HH panel, Loyalty Card platforms, etc..)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Location: North Region/Chicago flex
