Director of Enrollment, Graduate School of Social Work

Position Summary

The Director of Enrollment is responsible for leading enrollment growth and operations across three campus locations and two instructional modalities (on-ground campus-based and online) to achieve enrollment targets and net tuition revenue goals. The Director of Enrollment maintains an understanding of enrollment trends in higher education, best practices in enrollment, and application of technology to meet enrollment goals. They utilize exceptional communication skills, a positive approach to program-solving, data-driven decision-making, and exacting customer service standards in their role. A particular priority of this position is placed on diversity and inclusion in recruiting across a range of identities and abilities.

The Director of Enrollment reports to GSSW’s Associate Dean for Operations/Chief of Staff and regularly collaborates with key stakeholders, including Associate Deans and Directors of various programs and departments within GSSW and within central administration in the development and execution of a strategic enrollment plan.

Essential Functions

  • In collaboration with the Chief of Staff and other key stakeholders, develop and implement no later than August 1, an annual, month-by-month comprehensive strategic enrollment plan with near-term and long-term measurable goals.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop and implement enrollment strategies that achieve access and program success goals for diverse student populations, with a lens of equity and inclusion for prospecitive students from communities lacking historical access to higher education
  • Directs all aspects of the application review and selection process, including the optimization and integration of Salesforce, Technolutions Slate, and Ellucian Banner functions to ensure workflow efficiencies, processing accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Maintain GSSW’s financial aid model that optimizes financial aid awarding strategies. Work collaboratively with the Director of Budget and Finance to manage the annual discount rate for new students, including the awarding of endowed funds as a strategic tool for achieving the annual enrollment plan’s net tuition revenue goals.
  • Develop and implement analytical tools for tracking, measuring, and reporting key enrollment goals related to GSSW inquiry, applicant, and matriculating students. Analytic reports include summaries of the return on investing in recruitment activities, enrollment outcomes, results from leveraging merit scholarship, and the effecitiveness of yield initiatives.
  • Generate reports and analyze internal and external data sets to inform GSSW leadership of the effectiveness of the school’s annual strategic enrollment plan, innovative changes to enrollment policies, key objectives for minimizing enrollment expenses, and creative practices for maximizing gross and net tuition revenues.
  • Hire, manage, mentor, train, and lead a team of enrollment professionals in building new student cohorts that meet enrollment priorities of GSSW programs offered on the Denver campus, Western Colorado campus, Four Corners campus, PhD Program, and the Online MSW@Denver Program.
  • Collaborate with University IT staff to implement new technologies and enhance software performance to improve workflow efficiencies, increase enrollment team efficiencies, and automation of enrollment operations.
  • Collaborate with the GSSW Marketing and Communications Director and team to provide content for the enrollment sections of the GSSW website and develop a multi-year, multi-channel integrated communications plan that increases the achievement of enrollment and recruitment goals using social media and other platforms.
  • Other duties related to the overall operations of the school as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Leadership experience working with cross-functional organizational teams and systems.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting diverse student populations.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing and communication departments to achieve recruitment and enrollment goals.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships and collaborating with local, state, national and international organizations to increase the conversion rate of prospective students at every stage of the enrollment funnel.
  • Advanced computer & project management skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Preferred knowledge of Technolutions Slate and Ellucian’s Banner enterprise platforms.
  • Leadership and management experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years admissions or enrollment management experience at the senior level/director level or equivalent; supervision of administrative enrollment or recruitment marketing or communications professionals in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in related field
  • 8 years of admission, recruitment, marketing, and financial aid experience in higher education with demonstrated progressive increases in responsibilities, including managing an online academic program.

Working Environment

Hybrid standard office environment and optional work-from-home with approval

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

The salary grade for the position is 12.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $83,000-$93,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
