Director of Equity – Partner Districts
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of DEIA

POSITION OVERVIEW
Special School District (SSD) serves the needs of students in every school district in St. Louis County. Driven by our core value of equity, we are seeking a director of equity for partner districts who is passionate, driven, and committed to realizing the promise of equitable education for all to join our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) team.

Your mission will be guided by our Equity Framework and strategic plan elements, each providing a foundation to build our course forward. By profoundly examining how disparities outlined in the Framework impact student achievement and staff retention and engagement, you will develop and facilitate solutions that ensure equity is realized for every student we serve. You will work alongside SSD partner district directors and staff to evaluate and address equity indicators with best practices supported by DEIA leadership. You will also be relied upon by the executive director of DEIA to bring the department’s work to fruition as both a representative and resource, carrying our commitment to education, business, and industry partners and building trust-driven, sound partnerships throughout the county.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership and support in addressing inequities in and among SSD and its partner districts
  • Facilitates and leads conversations across districts regarding equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and inequities
  • Guides each individual district in identifying, analyzing, and using data related to the equity indicators
  • Assists each district with developing individual long-range plans to address inequities
  • Collaborates with each district in prioritizing inequities to address and develop corresponding action plans
  • Assists in monitoring and documenting the process of action plans
  • Plans, prepares, and delivers reports and presentations to SSD and partner districts related to progress on equity indicators
  • Consolidates and timely reports inequity monitoring data to the executive director of equity and the executive director of partner schools
  • Facilitates and leads the development, implementation, and refinement of supports for staff regarding best practices in addressing inequities and maintaining equity when inequities have been addressed
  • Communicates with all stakeholders, including, but not limited to, superintendents, directors, principals, and partner district coordinators
  • Remains current on local and national research and best practices related to addressing inequities
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • Master’s degree in administration required; special education preferred

Experience

  • Knowledge of and experience in equity, diversity, and inclusion training required
  • Ability to articulate and operationalize MTSS required
  • Minimum of five years of administrative experience as a building principal preferred
  • Combined experience in both general and special education preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in DEIA through national or regional recognition preferred
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, diverse populations, and stakeholder groups (teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Missouri DESE administrator certification required
