Job mission

You are an integral part of a dynamic and innovative Learning and Development team (L&D), whose purpose is to create and deliver engaging learning experiences that inspire and support the development and growth of both our commercial (Boutique and Retail Partners) and corporate teams at Cartier North America.

Under the strategic vision of the AVP of Learning & Development, the Director of Learning & Instructional Design is a key member of the L&D Team charged with building a strong learning culture through the development of strategic programs, tools and trainings targeted at supporting the growth of both our people and the business.

As a part of this client-centric team, which is focused on supporting the development of Cartier employees throughout all points in the talent lifecycle, you will be responsible for overseeing the authoring of programs and materials developed in N.A., as well as partnering with Global L&D on the deployment and regionalization of global offerings. The Director is expected to demonstrate broad learning leadership and have experience in a variety of delivery methodologies including but not limited to instructor led training, eLearning, distance learning, self-paced reference materials, peer-to-peer learning/social learning, experiential, etc.

As program development will be focused on supporting both the development of our Maison’s Commercial and Corporate teams, key areas of focus include, transversal topics such as Onboarding and Leadership Development, and supporting the Head of DE&I in the development of DE&I programs. Commercial specific topics include soft skills such as client centricity, the art of selling, product storytelling, etc.

In addition, it will be the responsibility of the Director and their team to facilitate programs for corporate employees, provide TTT to field trainers, and occasionally support commercial deployment. The Director will have a small team of Instructional Designers to support the goals.

While each person on this team is responsible for executing their areas of individual contribution with excellence, there is high value and expectation of supporting one another’s goals; in this role you will balance your time between leading and working on ID goals, alongside shared team goals.

  • Learning & Development
    • Provide expertise in Learning & Development from Instructional Design to Facilitation
    • Under the direction of the AVP of L&D, develop engaging, forward-thinking curriculum and programs aligned with both Group and Maison’s key priorities
    • Partner with Richemont L&D as well as Cartier International L&D in order to ensure alignment and leverage their offerings effectively in Market
    • Clearly and concisely present ideas to executives, internal business partners, and clients
    • Partner with L&D leadership during the development of programs, TTT, and deployment of programs to the Boutiques, Retail Partners, Client Relations Center and Corporate Teams
    • Facilitate programs and trainings for the corporate audience and flex to support training in the Commercial market as needed (i.e. Instructor-led, Webinar, TTT, in Boutique, etc.)
    • Define and build into all programs a measurement strategy, leveraging tools and data collection made available by Group and Maison; Be data driven
  • Project Management
    • Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Oversee ID team, as well as own projects to ensure timely completion of all development stages and final roll out of complex programs and learning projects
    • Provide project management expertise; plan, prioritize and organize work to meet development and launch dates
    • Execute formal reviews and the piloting of learning programs for Learning & Transformation leadership and business partners to secure sign-off at each designated milestone while keeping projects on time and within budget
    • Set, track, and communicate goal progress for self and team
    • Manage budget as it pertains to own projects with the L&D Leadership Team
  • Instructional Design
    • Utilize Instructional Design principles to develop exceptional high quality and impactful training programs, tools and materials (i.e. conduct needs assessments and skills gap analysis to identify learning and development initiatives, develop blended learning experiences and training materials in a variety of delivery modalities, build measurement tools assessing reaction to learning, knowledge transfer and application, and impact on ROI/ROE, etc.)
    • Build complex, highly visible learning programs through analysis, storyboard, design, development, and measurement
    • Maintain a client-centric lens, utilizing Design Thinking and Creative Problem Solving
    • Drive for results by designing into all programs some level of efficacy measurement (Kirkpatrick model).

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Instructional Design or curriculum design
  • L&D experience in luxury, large scale retailor(s) or hospitality industries
  • Expertise in adult learning theory
  • Significant first-hand design and development experience for the retail environment including product, client experience, leadership and operations preferred
  • Strong, elevated writing skills
  • Experience using development tools including Articulate, Storyline, Captivate, InDesign (Microsoft and Adobe Creative Applications)
  • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and allocate and identify resources as needed
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Certifications in Instructional Design, Design Thinking, Kirkpatrick Measurement, Predictive Index or other assessment certifications are a plus
  • Familiarity with LMS and LXP

Expected base salary range: $140,000 – $185,000

Salary will be negotiated based on relevant skills and experience
