Job Description
- Provides sound, innovative, strategic leadership and initiatives for 38 Harwood brands, including Business to Business and Business to Consumer.
- Leads, plans, and directs the work of the Marketing & Public Relations department staff and is responsible for establishing overall objectives and priorities for the direction of the department.
- Assume overall responsibility for and direct the development of the strategic marketing and communication planning process and calendar of events.
- Manages Harwood International’s creative teams (people, process, technology) to increase efficiency, meet deadlines, and grow the business.
- Provides strong and effective leadership to the Marketing and Public Relations team to capitalize on the full potential of the staff.
- Ensures that all employees are stimulated, motivated, and guided to contribute fully to the realization of the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
- Empowers employees to identify innovative approaches to enhance organizational performance.
- Provide the planning and leadership to the Marketing Department by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, competencies, and values are developed to meet and exceed the goals of the Marketing plan.
- Work in collaboration with Property Management, Leasing, and Hospitality divisions to increase revenues and meet sales goals.
- Contributes to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
- Responsible for performance appraisal of marketing and sales managerand for providing training and development opportunities.
- Maintains marketing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Manage the budgets.
Planning
- Develops and executes rolling 90-day Action Plans the Marketing and Communications department, tied to Hôtel Swexan’s strategic goals. The plan will define specific results activities to be pursued in each area of responsibility.
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Execution
- Completes marketing department operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
- Aligns marketing efforts with sales efforts to advance new prospects and increased revenues.
- Obtains market share by executing marketing plans and programs for each product/service, directing promotional support.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of an annual, strategic, special events calendar that ensures the efforts of staff are utilized in a manner that provides the greatest return to the organization. Ensures all events are planned to capture the attention of the intended audience and the media. Manages the production of each event ensuring all appropriate sponsorships are achieved and all details are managed in a creative, timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Develops and implements communications and media strategies and plans that successfully deliver information and key messages to the public.
- Directs the execution of all print, social media, email, and digital marketing activities to achieve desired results.
- Develops and maintains a strong and productive relationship with print, digital media, and press. Ensures the organization is understood by the media and the media are interested in presenting information to the public in a manner that informs and educates them on the organization.
- Directs market research activities to keep abreast of changing demographics and other relevant issues to evaluate marketing and communication activities and to monitor emerging issues.
- Ensures the development of advertising and promotional plans and manages the annual advertising and promotional budget.
- Manages the use of external resources as they pertain to the marketing and communications function (e.g., advertising agency, printers, etc.)
- Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.
- Plans and oversees the organization’s advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic, and direct mail outlets.
- Communicates with outside advertising agencies on ongoing campaigns.
- Works with writers and artists and oversees copywriting, design, layout, paste-up, and production of promotional materials.
- Establish a system of reports and communications for all information from the marketing team to the sales team and for feedback and request from the sales team to the marketing team.
- Use analytics and measurables to define the most effective marketing efforts for each brand.
- Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and share of market performance in relation to pre-set standards and to general and specific trends within the industry and the economy.
- Ensures effective control of marketing results and that corrective action takes place to be certain that the achievement of marketing objectives is within designated budgets.
- Evaluates market reactions to advertising programs, merchandising policy, and product packaging and formulation to ensure the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Recommends changes in basic structure and organization of marketing group to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it and provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to marketing problems and opportunities.

- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Marketing, Public Relations or Related Field.
- Strong leadership skills be able to motivate and influence others.
- Able to think creatively and strategically, have excellent judgment and be able to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Individual must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communications, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in a leadership/management role in an agency, corporate or consulting environment with a team of 5 or more.
- Experience leading a team of creatives, including graphic design, digital marketing, and public relations.
- Experience marketing and managing multiple brands, including B2C and B2B.
- Proven track record growing revenues through the management of marketing operations, processes, and teams.
- Demonstrate strategic understanding of emerging channels like social media, mobile, and digital.
- Proven ability to make a professional and positive impression with senior management within potential client organizations.
- Successful track record at building and presenting concepts/programs for multiple brands and new business opportunities.
- Proven track record of showing improvement in cost, quality, and cycle time metrics in a creative environment.
- Understands components, cycle times and production and distribution requirements of print, web, digital and video/multimedia deliverables.
Requirements
Preferred Education & Experience
- Experience in luxury brands, hospitality, commercial real estate, residential real estate industries preferred.
- Real Estate Industry / Hospitality industry experience.
